- видеоролик для аудирования (взят из пособия “Headway”)
Ход мероприятия
I. Организационный момент
- Good morning! Glad to see you! Today we’ll have a competition on the topic “ The Weather in Great Britain”. Let's divide into two teams and think of the names for the teams.
Учащиеся делятся на две команды, придумывают названия для своих команд и выбирают капитанов команд. ( команды Scotland и Ireland, капитаны Скорикова Даша и Замятин Женя).Учитель объясняет учащимся правила соревнования и сообщает, что за каждое правильно выполненное задание команды О дут получать определенное количество баллов.
- Let’s begin our competition!
- Weather ! This is an ever interesting topic for conversation. Today at the lesson we continue our discussion about the weather. We are going to speak about the weather in Great Britain then we compare it with the weather in our region.
We often say “Everything is good in its season”. Is it so? We try to prove it.
1.Конкурс эмблем. Let’s choose the emblems for your teams. Look at the table
And what do you mean, when you say:
1. It’s damp ( it is wet) and say what is the national emblems for each country (Приложение 1).
Rose- England,
Leek-Wales,
Thistle (чертополох)- Scotland,
Shamrock (трилистник)- Ireland.
Жюри начисляет баллы , команде, которая быстрее и правильнее справилась с заданием. Капитаны команд прикрепляют свои эмблемы на доску.

Look at some statements about the British weather. According to your opinion, which of them are true?
Work in teams, choose the true statements.
- People in Britain complain a lot about their weather.
- The British climate is terrible. ( it is true).
- It is very cold in winter in Britain (it is false)
- The summers are quite hot (it is false)
- Britain is the wettest place in Europe. ( it is true).
- The weather in Britain changes a lot ( it is true).
- The fact that Britain is an island has a great effect on the weather there ( it is true).
По истечении 3 минут ведущий собирает карточки. Жюри начисляет по 1 баллу за каждый правильный ответ.

Now, do you think that the weather is bad? Let’s get to know, what the British think of their weather.
1) They often say “Other countries have a climate, in England we have weather”. Why do they say so? Listen to the tape and find out, what other phrases they use for describing the weather.
THE BRITISH ABOUT THE BRITISH WEATHER (аудиоприложение из учебного пособия “Headway”). The English weather on the whole is not good. It’s very damp, we have a lot of rain. Our weather is very changeable: a fine morning may change into a wet afternoon and evening. But it’s not usually as cold in Britain as it is in Russia or Canada. It doesn’t usually get very cold in winter or very hot in summer. Summer months are often cool, there is always plenty of rain. Sometimes it rains so heavily that the British say “It’s raining cats and dogs.” Planning summer holidays is not easy because you can never depend on the weather. One year June may be hot and sunny and July and August rainy, another year it might be the other way round. So many people go abroad for their holidays, though there are so many lovely beaches on the English coast. The English winter is not cold. The temperature seldom falls below 3 – 4 degrees. The air is damp and foggy. It often rains and it seldom snows. Autumn is the season of foggy, windy days. Spring is a warm and beautiful season. The weather in spring however, is changeable, and even if the sky is blue without a single cloud in the morning there is no guarantee that it may not rain within a short time. It is always wise to take an umbrella. No conversation ever starts in England without a comment on the weather. It is almost a formality like shaking hands. “Nice day today, isn’t it?”, “Isn’t it hot today?”, “Shocking weather, isn’t it?” – these remarks are often used when speaking about the weather. 1. 5. Детектив –клуб.
Учитель читает несколько ситуаций. Задача учащихся – определить в чем проблема. За каждое расследованное дело команда получает 3 балла.
Задание 1. Tourists in troble.
Torsten and Tina are doing a 12-month tour of the English-speaking word, but they are having some trouble. Now they are in Cardiff and it’s raining (what a surprise!). So Tina and Torsten decided to watch TV, but they are really unhappy because they can’t understand anything.
What’s the problem? (Кардифф относится к Уэльсу, а во многих частях Уэльса говорят не на английском, а на валлийском. Некоторые телепередачи транслируются на валлийском, а вывески на улицах – на двух языках).
Задание 2.
Вопрос: Как узнают, что в Шотландии наступило лето?

They are now in Alaska and Tina hears on the radio that the temperature will be 32 degrees tomorrow. She is really happy and puts on her shorts and T-shirt the next. However, when she gets outside she is freezing.
What’s the problem? (В США, Канаде и Великобритании температура измеряется по Фаренгейту, а не по Цельсию. 32 градуса по Фаренгейту соответствует нулю градусов по Цельсию).
Задание 4. Tourists in troble.
Torsten and Tina are doing a 12-month tour of the English-speaking word, but they are having some trouble.It’s Christmas Eve and Torsten and Tina are at some friend’s in London. They are confused. Firstly, their hosts haven’t made a special meal, fnd, secondly, Torsten and Tina have given them presents, but their hosts haven’t given them anything.
What’s the problem? (В Великобритании Рождество празднуют 25 декабря. Подарки открывают рано утром первого рождественского дня)
I see you have different opinions. I can understand you. It’s always difficult to choose the best time to visit any place. That’s why a lot of tourist, choosing a place to visit, are interested in weather.
Let’s help them. Work in 2 groups! Share your ideas and compare the weather in Britain with our weather in winter for the first group and in summer for the second group.
