Методическая разработка представляет собой план- конспект урока по теме: "Шотландия", может быть использован при изучении разделов, посвященных Великобритании, различных УМК и в качестве дополнительного материала факультативных курсов по страноведению. Целью урока является развитие лексических умений в устной речи и чтении по темам: география, достопримечательности, национальные традиции Шотландии.

Тема урока: Шотландия

Цель урока:

Развитие лексических умений в устной речи и чтении по теме: Шотландия: география, достопримечательности, национальные традиции.

Образовательные задачи урока:

1.        Развитие умения аудирования с выборочным    пониманием значимой информации;

            2.    Развитие  контекстуальной догадки;

              3.     Использование тематической лексики в речевых ситуациях;

              4.     Развитие диалогической речи по теме урока в различных видах диалогов;

              5.    Научить учащихся высказываться на заданную тему, аргументируя свою точку зрения;

              6.   Повторение грамматических знаний по темам: настоящее простое, настоящее совершенное, прошедшее простое время;

              7.  Развитие навыков поискового чтения текста по данной теме.

                     

Воспитательные задачи:

1.        Приобщение учащихся-к иноязычной культуре.

2.        Формирование культурно-страноведческой компетенции.

Развивающие задачи:

1.        Развитие образного мышления;

2.        Развитие внимания, памяти

Оснащение урока: CD-диск, карта Великобритании, символика Шотландии и рисунки.

I этап- Речевая зарядка.

Looking at the map of Scotland, the posters, the flag , try to remember what you’ ve learnt , what you already know about Scotland.

 Answer the following questions.

  1. Where is Scotland situated?
  2. What is Scotland washed by?
  3. What Scottish  rivers do you know?
  4. What mountains do you know in Scotland?
  5. What is the national symbol of Scotland?
  6. Who is its Saint Patron?
  7. Can you describe the national flag of Scotland?
  8. What big cities in Scotland do you know?
  9. What is the capital of Scotland?  

Now I’d like you to  compare  two capitals: Moscow and Edinburgh. (раздаточный материал)

c)        listen to this poem in Russian translated by S. Y. Marshak and say if you like the translation, if Marshak could express feelings and mood of the poet

d)        find the English equivalents to the underlined parts of this poem

 Work in group. Read one of the part of the text "THE KILT" to understand the main idea.

HIGHLANDERS

The kilt was worn by Highlanders and it was first used as a blanket. This was wrapped around their waist and over the shoulder. Soldiers would sleep in the snow with the plaid over them. At the time the kilt was used by everyone, but these days most kilts are only ever worn at weddings or other formal occasions.

EXPENSIVE

A kilt is one of the most expensive outfits that Scotsmen own and they can expect to spend well over 800 euros on it. Many of them are tailor-made and are often treated as an investmen or even heirloom.

So what do you get for your many? Well, apart of the kilt you get a sporran, a short black jacket, knee-long socks, funny shoes that you tie around you legs, and finally sgian dhu, which is a small knife that you wear in you sock - remember, warriors have to be prepared at all times!

TARTAN

Kilts all have a special fabric pattern known as tartan. Tartan is the key to understanding Scottish culture, since it is everywhere - bag-pipes, shortbread tins, expensive raincoats and even some bus seats in Edinburgh! Tartan is the criss-cross pattern of coloured squares that you see on a kilt, and a beautiful, complex design which has hundreds of varieties.

Originally, it was used to distinguish members of different clans ( families in the Scottish Highlands), and was central to people's identity. So you can imagine the fuss when the English made wearing the kilt illegal in 1745.

A PERSON IN A KILT

So who wears a kilt these days? Plenty of people, including weddings guests, Scottish nationalists, soldiers, country dancers, Tartan army and Americans. These Days, many Americans are keen on tracing their family trees and finding out their Ancestors, who emigrated to the USA from Scotland in search of better weather and bigger cars. So, if you ever see someone wearing a kilt with a baseball cap, it may be an American called McAllister.

4Б- развитие неподготовленной диалогической речи по теме (речевые упражнения).

       A.        Complete the dialogue. You have just visited Scotland and your friend is asking you about your journey.

B.        Complete the dialogue. You are having a week of Scotland next month and you and your classmates are doing some preparations.

Домашнее задание- At home: imagine that you are in Scotland on holidays and write a postcard about

your trip, tell your friend what you are excited about  most of all.
