«Christmas in Great Britain»

Цель мероприятия: привить учащимся толерантное отношение к культурному и традиционному празднику Великобритании.

- ознакомить учащихся с традициями и обычаями праздника англо-говорящей страны.

Задачи:

Образовательные:

- активизировать и расширить словарный запас учащихся по теме «Holidays. Christmas»;

- актуализировать и систематизировать знания о традициях и обычаях Великобритании ;

- научиться систематизировать полученную информацию и преобразовывать её в монолог.

Развивающие:

- развивать коммуникативные навыки через монологическую речь;

- развивать воображение;

- формировать самостоятельную познавательную деятельность;

- развивать умения осуществлять рефлексивную деятельность.

Воспитательные:

- развивать у учащихся интерес к изучению иностранного языка;

- развивать положительное отношение к культуре и праздникам других стран, расширить общий кругозор;

- развивать культуру взаимоотношений при работе в группах, воспитывать навыки вежливого поведения, уважительного отношения к одноклассникам.

Форма проведения занятия: познавательно-игровая

- соревнование в двух командах

Атрибуты: презентация (рассказ о празднике), ёлочка , ноутбук для воспроизведения рождественских песен и распечатанные  задания для каждой команды.

Ход занятия

1.Познавательная деятельность учащихся. Беседа с учащимися о празднике

Good morning dear guests, students and colleagues! I`m glad to see you! We`ve come here to acquaint with Christmas traditions, customs and games. Merry Christmas!

 Do you know what date is it today? Yes, today is the twenty-fifth of December and today is Christmas in Great Britain and America. Today we will speak about Christmas. British people celebrate Christmas on the 25th of December in Great Britain. This holiday is very popular and traditional. People prepare for this holiday very carefully. People and children like to buy presents for this holiday, such as – sweets, bitter chocolate, oranges, tangerines, nuts and a lot of souvenirs – like angels. They decorate their houses by X-mas tree and toys. Also they cook a cake and make a turkey for big dinner. Children wait Santa Claus and they believe that Santa will bring a lot of presents to them. Children hang stockings before the fireplace. British people and children can sing songs on streets and at homes. At the next day they can go to the church – this customer is very important and necessary.

Task 2. Read the text and put the words below in the gaps.

Task 4. The text “Traditions and customs of Christmas”

Please look at these parts of the texts on the walls of our classroom. The task is called “running dictation”. Pupils work in groups of 4 .They go to their texts. Read them and then dictate to a writer (a pupil from the group who writes down the text). Then they read their parts in groups.

What traditions did you know from the text? Children call them out and write them down on the board. They translate them.

Traditions and customs.

Christmas is a religious holiday. It is the day on which Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. It is a happy holiday. Families come together to share their happiness? Attend church and exchange their gifts.

In the days before Christmas, parties are held in schools, offices, factories and clubs. Cities and towns sparkle with bright lights and decorations. Churches, homes, schools, shops and streets are decorated with Christmas trees, colored lights, Santa Claus and his reindeer.

Families prepare for this holiday week before. They make and buy gifts. They wrap them with bright paper and ribbons. They choose a tree and then decorate it with ornaments and lights. Houses are decorated with evergreens and mistletoe. Christmas cards are sent to friends and relatives.

Children hang up stockings to receive gifts from Santa. People wish each other a “Merry Christmas” during Holiday season. Christmas carols are sung on the radio.

 Jingle Bells is the most famous Christmas song. Let’s remember and sing it. (The children sing the song).
