Лингвострановедческая викторина

Особое место в системе обучения иностранному языку занимает неделя иностранного языка. Участие ребят в различных мероприятиях развивает их творческие способности, что позволяет каждому ученику, независимо от его успеваемости, проявить себя, у них формируются навыки публичного выступления на иностранном языке, группового взаимодействия. Одним из основных мероприятий недели иностранного языка явилась «Лингвострановедческая викторина».

        Лингвострановедческая викторина «Union Jack» and «Stars and Stripes» проводилась с целью:

• расширения объема и углубления лингвострановедческих и страноведческих знаний о странах изучаемого языка, их науке и культуре, исторических и современных реалиях, общественных деятелях, месте этих стран в мировом сообществе, мировой культуре;
• развития умений участвовать в беседе, запрашивать и обмениваться информацией;
• совершенствования ранее сформированных слухо-произносительных и ритмико - интонационных навыков;
• дальнейшего развития слушания и понимания (с различной степенью полноты и точности) высказываний собеседника.

Методические рекомендации:

На данном мероприятии учитель имеет возможность проверить степень информированности учащихся, их умение самостоятельно пользоваться рекомендованной литературой, давать четкие и аргументированные ответы на вопросы. Участвуют две команды. Одна команда представители США, а другая команда из Великобритании.  Состав каждой команды 5-6 человек. За неделю до викторины каждая команда выбирает капитана, придумывает девиз команды и отличительную атрибутику (флаги стран, эмблемы, символы, высказывания выдающихся людей данной страны и т.д.)  

Рекомендуется проводить страноведческие викторины, которые включают несколько взаимосвязанных разделов или состоящие из различных туров.  

        Данная методическая разработка внеклассного мероприятия используется совместно с презентацией.

We’ll discuss different items concerning two countries: the UK and the USA.

   I asked you to split in 2 teams. Now I see that you are ready and have colourful badges with flags. The first team is “Union Jack”. The captain is … The second team is “Stars and Stripes”. The captain is…

   Our teachers will be our jury and score your points. Try to get as many points as you can. The team with the highest score will be the winner. I ask you to respect each other and work in turn. Let’s begin with the greeting. (Слайд 3)

  Tell us your name, your motto and give some information about the flags.

Captain 1. Our team:  « Union Jack».

                Our motto: « To wave and be free like a flag».

          The word “Union” reflects the union of England and Scotland in 1606. And the word “Jack” means the flag flown on the jack staff of ships to show their nationality. The Union Jack is made up of 3 crosses on a blue ground. It combines the red cross of England, the white cross of Scotland and the red cross of Ireland.

Captain 2.  Our team: « Stars and Stripes».

                Our motto:  «Through hardships to the stars».

           The thirteen-star, thirteen-stripe national flag of the United States of America was adopted on June 14, 1777. There was one star and one stripe for every state in the new country. Gradually, as new states were added to the Union, a new star added to the national flag. There are now fifty stars on the American flag, one for each state. The thirteen stripes represent thirteen states.
