Задачи урока:

1.Совершенствование коммуникативных умений в четырех основных видах речевой деятельности.

2.Развитие навыков оперировать языковыми единицами в коммуникативных целях.

3.Развитие умений участвовать в беседе и выражать свое мнение по обсуждаемой теме.

4.Развитие навыков критического и креативного мышления  и умения работать в сотрудничестве.

учебник :  Биболетова М.З. Enjoy English, рабочая тетрадь, карточки, презентация, слайды Interwrite, видеоматериал из Интернета (http://www.youtube.com), материал из The Internet TESL Journal, No. 11, November 2000 (http://iteslj.org/), компьютер, интерактивная доска.

1. Warm up

1. – Hello, everybody! Glad to see you! I hope you are OK. There is a good proverb “Smile and the world will smile with you”.  Smile and say Hello to each other. Say compliments to your face partners at first, then to your shoulder partners. Thank you!
2. – You are going to finish school this year. There are a lot of professions in the world. It’s necessary to choose one of them, which is the most interesting for you. Now share your ideas using the structure Round Robin, starting with Partners N1.

- Could you tell me please what profession or job you would like to choose.

- What do your parents think about your choice?

- Do you have any unusual ambitions?

2. Main Activity

1. Important qualities for a successful career

Stir the Class

• I am sure that the most people dream of having a successful career. Let’s think a little about important qualities for having it. These qualities may be professional and personal.
• For half a minute you should write down as many as you can qualities.
• Underline your list. Now move around the classroom, come up to your classmates, add new ideas to your list.
• Thank you. Please underline your lists again and take your seats.

• In groups you should read your qualities starting with Partner 1. Others will add the new qualities. Then Partner 2 will read only those qualities which were not mentioned by Partner 1. You will have a minute for that.
• Thank you. How many qualities have you written?
• You have more qualities, please read them.

2. The situation for discussion “Who is better?”

1. - Supposethat you are the head of a firm. You are in charge of hiring a new employee for your firm. You have to decide between two persons. One is a person with many years of experience in a company very similar to yours who has only a high school education. The other person is a recent university graduate with a degree in a field closely related to your company's business. Which person would you choose? Think a little and choose the corner according to your choice.

• Well, we have different opinions, of course. Discuss your choice with your closest partner. It is Timed Pair Share. Everybody will speak for a half a minute. The first will be the person who is taller.

• Now please share your ideas with your opponents.

3. Benefits in a job

• Let’s speak a little about benefits in a job.  In these worksheets there is a list of benefits. Your task is to rate them according to their importance. You have a half a minute.

Which of the following benefits is the most and the least important to you in a job and why?

• A boss you enjoy working for
• Co-workers you like
• A high salary
• Good working conditions
• Little or no overtime
• Good opportunities for advancement
• The opportunity to use the training and skills you have acquired
• A job near where you live
• The opportunity to travel
• Flexible working hours

• Now share your ideas with your face partners. A Partners will start the conversation. Each partner will have a half a minute.

• Who has the same opinion? So, … people consider that … is the most important benefit.

4. Male/Female Jobs

• I’d like to offer you an actual topic for discussion. We usually say male and female jobs. But I think it isn’t very correct. Sometimes we have stereotypes concerning male/female jobs. For example, some people are sure that only women can be real teachers. But there are excellent teachers among men as well. And the following videomaterial taken from the Internet will prove my words.

• Thank you. Please, open your textbooks on page 49, find Ex.15 and read the task. So your task is to express ideas on the question – Why do we have traditional male and traditional female jobs? You may use the words given below. It is Timed Pair Share for Shoulder Partners.  Everybody will speak for a half a minute. B Partners will start the conversation.

• Please, pay attention to the chart on the board. It is about women and men workers in America. Forty years ago, only 1 in 3 American workers was a woman. Today, it's 1 in 2. It raises an interesting question: What jobs did all those women get?
• Now I’ll give you some statements. Read them carefully and decide if the following statements are true or false. Put the marks in the column “Before”.

• Now look at the graph shown in the slide. This graphshows how the gender breakdown changed in major sectors of the economy between 1972 and 2012. Learn the graph attentively, then read the statements once more and put marks on the column “After”.
• Now analyse your answers before and after. Then speak about it in Round Robin.

• Why did you think so at first?

3. Conclusion

• Your homework will be writing a letter: Ex. 9 – p.28 in Workbook. You should answer Sophie giving her advice on the same matter – Male/Female Jobs.
