Sir Elton Hercules John (real name Reginald Kenneth Dwight) was born on 25 March. He is a popular British rock singer, composer and pianist.

During his career, Elton John has sold in the United States and Britain has more albums than any other British solo artist.

There are some interesting facts about Elton John.

He began playing piano when he was four. He was able to play any song. At age eleven he won a scholarship to the Royal Conservatory, where he then studied for six years.

Elton John is a six-time winner of the Grammy award.

Queen Elizabeth II bestowed upon him the title of "sir" on the 24th of February in 1998.

In his career John has sold more than 250 million records, making him one of the most successful artists of all time.

Elton John is also known as a social activist, particularly in the field started in the late 1980s in the fight against the AIDS epidemic.
