Урок-викторина на тему «What I know about Great Britain» в 5-6 классах.

 Командное соревнование.

Класс поделен на 2-3 команды (в зависимости от количества детей).

Good morning children. Today we are going to have quiz “Do you know Great Britain?” I’m sure you’ve got much information about this wonderful country. And now you will have a good opportunity to show your knowledge of the matter by taking part in our competition. Let’s divide into two groups and try to do our best. I wish you Good Luck!

1.  Задание. Текст разделен и разрезан на несколько частей. Задача детей собрать его по частям в одно целое. Look! We have some parts of one text about GB. You should match these parts in the right order to make a text.

Great Britain

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is situated on the British Isles. They lie to the north-west of Europe. The British Isles are separated from the continent by the narrow strait of water which is called the English Channel.

The United Kingdom consists of four parts: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. England, the central part, occupies the most of the island of Great Britain. To the north lies Scotland and to the west the third part of the country, Wales, is situated. The fourth part is called Northern Ireland and is located on the second island. Each part has its capital. The capital of England is London, Wales has Cardiff, Scotland has Edinburgh and the main city of Northern Ireland is Belfast.

Great Britain is a country of forests and plains. There are no high mountains in this country. Scotland is the most mountainous region with the highest peak, Ben Nevis. The rivers of Great Britain are not long. The longest rivers are the Thames and the Severn. The capital of the United Kingdom, London, stands on the banks of the Thames. As the country is surrounded by many seas there are some great ports at the seaside: London, Glasgow, Plymouth and others.

Wales is a country of lakes.

Seas and oceans influence the British climate which is not too cold in winter but never hot in summer. Great Britain is a beautiful country with old traditions and good people

3. Задание. На доске вывешиваются одна за другой достопримечательности UK. Команда, первая поднявшая руку, отгадывает название достопримечательности. И, если правильно назвала, получает балл. Неправильно – переход хода другой команде.

• Buckingham Palace

4. Задание. Каждая команда задает по очереди вопросы соперникам. Вопросы ученики самостоятельно приготовили дома (по 2 вопроса). Если команда соперников отвечает правильно, то зарабатывает балл.

Всего по 5 вопросов от каждой команды. Примечание: ученики, составившие самые интересные вопросы, будут награждены отличной отметкой. Вопросы прилагаются.

5. Задание для капитанов команд. Составить как можно больше слов из слова PERSONALITY. Дается 5 минут. Побеждает тот, кто составил больше слов.

Dear friends, it’s high time to organize a competition between two captains. You get a card with a long word. You have to make other words from the letters it contains. I give you five minutes. The winner is who finds the largest number of words.

PERSONALITY (возможные слова: person, son, ten, pen , tiny, tea, net, rest,reason,noisy…..)
