Тема урока: «Travelling. Tourist transportation».

Цели урока:

  • Развитие профессиональной коммуникативной компетенции у студентов и их общего кругозора.
  • Повышение мотивации студентов к изучению английского языка.
  • Обобщение и систематизация полученных знаний.

Задачи:

  • Актуализация изученной лексики и применение ее в устной и письменной речи;
  • Повторение грамматического материала: Оборот there is/there are, повествовательное и вопросительное предложение в английском языке, чтение числительных.
  • Обучение монологическому высказыванию о моторном судне (теплоходе) с опорой на мультимедийную презентацию.
  • Обучение поиску информации в процессе работы над речевым материалом;
  • Активизация употребления лексики.

Оснащение учебного занятия:

  • Мультимедийный проектор, экран, доска, презентация Power Point, распечатанный материал (активная лексика)
  • На столах у студентов распечатанная на листах активная лексика урока:

Teacher: Good morning, students!

Students: Good morning!

Teacher: Glad to see you. Sit down, please.

Слайд 1.

Teacher: Today we are going to discuss one of the most serious and important problem for today – Tourist transportation. We are going to talk about the service on board. As an example we`ll refer to the motor ship “Yuri Andropov”. It is one of the biggest tourist motor ship in our country.

Teacher: Motor ship “Yuri Andropov” was designed as Project 302.

The ship was built in Germany 2008.

Please look at the screen and answer: (Отвечают студенты)

  1. What is the length of this ship? (The length of this ship is 129 m).
  2. What is the width of this ship? (The width of this ship is 16 m).
  3. What is the draft of this ship? (The draft of this ship is 3 m).
  4. What is the speed of this ship? (The speed of this ship is 27 km/h).
  5. How many people do work in this ship? I mean the crew of this ship. (102-110 people work on board of this ship)
  6. How many passengers does m/s “Yuri Andropov” transport? (The “Yuri Andropov” transports 270 passengers)

Teacher: The “Y.A” has 5 decks: Sun deck, Boat deck, Middle deck, Main deck and Lower deck. Please translate their names. (Студенты переводят названия палуб).

Look at the accommodation plan and name the rooms and cabins. Attention, please! All cabins are marked with a special color:

  • Red – suite cabins
  • Pink – single cabins
  • Yellow – double cabins
  • Blue – quadruple cabins
  • Please describe this Plan:

(Один из студентов, опираясь на Слайд 3, описывает План расположения судна).

One of the students:

There are 2 suites, 9 single cabins, 128 double cabins and 14 quadruple cabins on board. There are solarium and conference hall on the Sun deck. On the Boat deck you can find the restaurant, the Bar “Panorama”, suites, double cabins and single cabins. There are the second Restaurant, the Bar “Private” and double cabins on the Middle deck. There are double cabins and the medical room on the main deck. On the Lower deck you can find the Sauna and quadruple cabins.

Teacher: Please, look at the advertising booklet about this m/s and translate it. You have 10 minutes and the sheets on the desks to notice the translation of some phrases or words.

“One of the best ways to explore Russia is to do so from the deck of a river boat. A superb route between St. Petersburg and Moscow shows off sleepy old Russian small towns and their beautiful surroundings. This is an excellent opportunity to connect with the history of the country. The cruise starts at River Neva, takes you along Ladoga Lake, River Volga and through other waterways into River Moscow. You will spend 5 days and 5 nights (any other duration is available on request) on board of the motor ship: “Yuri Andropov”. Comfortable five-deck motor river cruise ship was built in 1988 in Germany.

Ship`s run: Moscow — Uglich — Yaroslavl — Goritzy — Kizhy — Svirstroy — Saint-Petersburg.

Besides the lower deck, all outside cabins on the main, middle and lower decks have panoramic sliding windows. All cabins are equipped with bathrooms (shower, toilet, wash-basin), split systems, refrigerators radio and power sockets for shavers.

Service includes: change of bed linen every 3 days, entertainment on board, excursion program with Russian speaking guide/or excursion program with English/German/French speaking guide”.

Teacher: Look at the apartment of the ship. On board you can find the suites with living room and bathroom and ordinary cabins. They are cheaper and not so luxurious but very comfortable.

Teacher: M/S “Y.A” is very comfortable and there are many services for passengers.

Please look at the screen and answer: Which services are offered on board of this ship?

Students: Restaurant, Disco Bar, Bar “Panorama”, Bar “Private”, Conference hall, Solarium, Sauna, Medical room, Laundry, Ironing room, Souvenir shop.

Teacher: Thank you! And now let`s imagine that we have an opportunity to make a trip on board of the m/s “Y.A”. Let`s make and act out the dialogues. You should use the sentences, phrases and words which we have used today.

Студентам предоставляется время для составления диалогов, затем они по двое или по трое инсценируют их.

For example:

The dialogue between a tourist and tourist manager

- Good morning!

- Good morning! What can I help you?

- I want to travel on board of the Motor ship “Yuri Andropov”.

- It as a good idea! It as the price-list and here you can watch some photos.

- Thank you. Which services are offered on board?

- There you can find two restaurants, disco bars, solarium, two bars, sauna, conference hall and souvenir shop.

- And what about cabins?

- There are suites with living room and bedroom, single cabins, double cabins and quadruple cabins.

- Do they have private toilet/shower, split-system, refrigerator and radio?

- Yes. They do. There is a medical room, laundry and ironing room.

- Thanks’ for the information. I want to choose a cabin with my wife (husband) and also to think about the date of the trip.

- O`K! We are waiting for you! Good bye!

- Good bye!

The dialogue between a manager of the m/s “Yuri Andropov” and new employee

- Hi, Jim! Welcome to board!

- Hi, Sam! I already know my duties and now I want to know some information about the technical characteristics and accommodation of the ship.

- So. The length of this ship is 129 m. The width is 16 m. The draft is 3 m.

- And what is the speed of the ship?

- The speed is 27 km/h.

- How many people do work in this ship? I mean the crew of this ship.

- 102-110 people work on board of this ship.

- How many passengers does m/s “Yuri Andropov” transport?

- 270 passengers.
