Урок по теме « Extensive Reading. Oscar Wilde»

Задачи:
- мотивация на работу с текстом об О. Уайльде.
- развитие умений поискового и изучающего чтения; развитие языковой догадки
- развитие умения прогнозировать содержание текста с опорой на заголовок и звуковые образы; развитие умений поискового чтения.
- развитие умений диалогической речи — инсценирование диалога на основе прочитанного текста.

- развитие умения работать в группе; развитие умения прогнозировать продолжение рассказа.

Цели:

1.Образовательная:обобщение и систематизация знаний, умений и навыков обучающихся по теме, закрепление и активизация употребления в речи лексических единиц по теме.

2.Развивающая: формирование у обучающихся учебно-познавательных компетенций, умений находить нужную информацию в предложенном тексте, развитие навыков монологической и диалогической речи.

3.Воспитательная: воспитание уверенности в себе, ответственного отношения к учебному труду, внимательного восприятия материала, воспитание умения работать в парах.

Ход урока:

1. Приветствие. Организационный момент. Беседа с дежурным.

T: Good morning, my dear pupils!
I’m glad to see you again.
I hope everybody is fine.
How are you?
Now, it’s time to start.

Who is on duty today? What date is it today? What day is it today? What is the weather like today? Well done. Thank you. 

2. Речевая зарядка:

T: Who of you likes reading? What kind of books do you like? Who is your favorite writer?

3.Введение нового материала и формулировка темы урока.

Children, look at this picture on the blackboard, please, and try to guess what the topic of our lesson is.

Ответ учащихся:

S1: I think, that the topic is about Oscar Wilde.

T: Yes, you are right. We will discuss the biography of Oscar Wilde and his story “The Canterville Ghost.” What do you know about him?

Ответы учащихся:

S2: Oscar Wilde was a famous Irish writer.

S3: He wrote poems, plays, novels and short stories.

T: Today we are going to discuss the biography of Oscar Wilde and his story The Canterville Ghost, to watch a fragment from the cartoon. But the purpose of our lesson is to find out the main ideas of the work.

Let’s start! Open your books,  page number 23 ex. 1. Read and translate.

T: Let’s follow the presentation about Oscar Wilde. You must be ready to answer some questions and retell his biography.  Be attentive! P1 come out to the blackboard and tell us some facts about Oscar Wilde.

T: Read the title of the story and listen to the sounds. What do you think happens in this extract?

S1: I think it is a ghost story. Maybe somebody was sleeping and they heard a ghost.

T: The story is about a man who bought a house. One night, he heard strange noises and got out of  bed to check. Then, he saw the ghost of an old man in chains.

rusty chains (exp): old chains turned brown from being wet (ржавые цепи)

oil (v): to put oil on something (смазывать)

T: Act out a short dialogue between Mr. Otis and the Canterville Ghost.

Mr Otis: Well, I think your chains need oiling. Ghost: Oh, okay!

Mr Otis: Here take this bottle of lubricant.

Ghost: Thank you very much, sir.

8. Проект. Project

Выполнение упр. 6 стр. 23

T: What do you think happened afterwords? In groups continue the story. Then listen and check.

Ответы учащихся:

S1: The ghost ran down the hall to another room feeling bad because he hadn't frightened the man.

9. Работа с видеоматериалом.

T: And now its high time to watch the passage from the cartoon “The Canterville Ghost”.

You should watch it very attentively and give your opinions about the main ideas of this work.

T: Good luck everybody!

T: - Do you think there is any hidden meaning of the content?

 S1: I think there is a contradiction between old England and new world – American, which are represented by lord Canterville and Mr. and Ms. Otis, who think that everything can be bought and sold.

T: I agree with you. But I also consider that it isn’t the main idea.

S2: May be Death and Life.

T: Yes, it’s.

S3: Kindness and Beauty.

T: You are right. All these ideas are important in this story.
