Внеклассное мероприятие по теме «Защита окружающей среды» для 8-го класса(The Defence of the Environment).

образовательная: (развитие умения пользоваться справочной литературой, энциклопедическими словарями, стимулируя тем самым познавательную активность обучающихся)

воспитательная: ( формирование потребности и способности к сотрудничеству и взаимопомощи при работе в парах и группе).

                Ходмероприятия.

P. Good afternoon everybody! Dear friends, we are glad to see you.

P.  We have gathered today to talk about our environment, about its problems and we hope to hear something about how to solve them.

P. As you know the 22nd  of April is a special day around the world. On that day inhabitants of the Earth celebrate Earth Day.

P. The first Earth Day was held in the USA in April 1970. At that time, Americans were beginning to learn about the problems  facing the planet.

P.  Since  the people of the Earth have been discussing those problems and speaking of us we are not the first to do it.

P.  So we have two groups that they will be doing it today. You are welcome!

Group I. P.About two hundred years ago man lived in great harmony with his environment. Nature was a source of recreation for man. Man could be happy united with Nature. One of the English poets agreed with it as he said  only Nature could give man harmony. (читаетсястихотворение).

The Invitation

Away, away from men and towns,

To the wild woods, and the downs-

To the silent wilderness

Where the soul need not repress

Its music, less it should not find

An echo in another`s mind,

While the touch of Nature`s art

Harmonizes heart to heart.

P. Today the situation is quite different. People all over the world are worried about what is happened to the environment.

P.  It`s known that about two hundred years ago the air was pure and clean. It was perfect for animals and people of the Earth to breath. Then people began to build factories. Those factories put a lot of harmful gas into the air. Then people began to drive cars. Driving cars added more pollution to the air. Nowadays the air in many cities is filled with a pollution called «smog». Polluted air is bad for people and animals, trees and other plants. And in some places it is even damaged farmer`s crops- the food we eat.

P.  You know that when power plants burn gas to make electricity and when cars burn gasoline invisible gas is released into the air. Some of them can mix with water and make it acidic. They can get into rain clouds where they get mixed in with rain and snow. Then the acid falls back to the Earth with rain or snow. It is called acid rain. Acid rain is extremely harmful to plants, rivers, lakes and the creatures that on the Earth. In some places it is killed forests too. It is also polluted water that animals and people need to drink.

P.  So we have listened to our classmates. And now our experts will give us some tests. Attention please! Firstly, look at these columns. You must match the words in column A with the words  or phrases in column B that best describes them. Do it by turns, please!

P. It`s common knowledge that a lot of animals are disappeared. There are more and more people living on the Earth. They need room to live. People cut down forests and wild areas. The plants and animals that live there can become endangered. There is no place for them to live and that`s why, they begin to disappear. They are gone from the Earth forever.

P. One of the environmental problems is that we make much garbage. When we throw something away it goes in a garbage can. Then all garbage is taken to a garbage dump or landfill. Most of our garbage is just buried. But now there isn`t enough place to bury it all.

T. Good of you. And now the next test for you. You must say the following statements with «true» or «false» (карточкисбуквами T и F). Do it be turns, please!

P. Well done. Let`s continue speaking about nature. As it is known there is a layer of gas called ozone above the air we breathe. It is blocked some rays from the sun that can harm our skin. We are lucky to have the ozone to protect us. But the ozone layer is being damaged by gas that people have made. This gas is used in refrigerators, fire extinguishers, air conditioners, plastic foam and some other things.

T. Thank you very much for the pupils from group number one. Now let`s listen to the second team.

P. The Earth is surrounded by a blanket of invisible gas (with names like carbon dioxide) that is acted just like a greenhouse. The sun shines in and the blanket of gas traps the heat like a roof, keeping it close to the planet. That`s good – we can`t live without warmth. But now factories, electric power plants and cars are making a lot of new gas. Even trees when they are cut down, give off the gas. This new gas is trapping more and more of the sun`s heat. It is called the greenhouse effect or global warming.

If the Earth`s temperature gets hotter by just a few degrees, it could change the weather all over the planet in big ways. Places that are warm would become too hot to live in, and the places that are cold would become warm. The places that are grown most of our food could get too hot to grow crops any more.

P. All life on the Earth from the least bug to the biggest whale depends on water. It`s precious. But in many places rivers and lakes, seas and oceans are polluted by garbage or by poisonous chemicals which are dumped into them. For- example, I think the largest Russian river Volga is seriously ill now. And it is we people « masters of nature» who have brought this great river to the verge of complete catastrophe. People turned the Volga into a cascade of stagnating reservoirs. They are pouring into it millions of cubic meters of sewage from cities and towns, from industrial enterprises and farms. Every chemical poison is washed away from the fields into the Volga and its tributaries. We have tortured the Volga to death. Fish and plants die in the river too. Nothing can live or grow in the polluted water.

P. Let`s imagine that the apple is our Earth. I`ll cut the apple into quarters. Three quarters of the Earth`s surface is water and only one-quarter  is  land. And now I am going to cut the piece representing land in half. Only one half of the land is habitable. The rest of the land is the deserts, mountains, frozen ice caps and in other places people can`t live. I`ll take the piece that represents the habitable land and I`m going to cut it into 4 sections. Only one-  fourth  of the Earth`s habitable land or one thirty second is where all the Earth`s food comes from. Imagine what would happen if this part of the world was damaged or destroyed (съестькусочекисказать): So people could stay without any food.

T. Let`s sing a song « Imagine».

P. Actually our environment is polluted. There is too much garbage That we throw away and we don`t sometimes worry about where they go. We must protect our environment, our Earth and we can do it. Where there is a will, there is a way! The question is what we must do first of all.

P. Our actions may be simple, but they are very useful.

1) We must save energy. We must make sure our light is turned off when we are not at home.

2) We must reuse bags, containers, paper boxes and other items.

3) We must buy reusable products.

4) We must select products with the least wasteful packaging.

5) We must buy products that can be recycled.

6) We must make sure our water faucets are turned off when we are not using them.

7) We must plant a tree to create homes for birds, squirrels and other animals.

8) We must be a friend to fish.

9) We mustn`t throw rubbish into their homes.

10) We mustn`t break plants and bushes.

11) As for our school, we mustn`t forget that is our home. We must keep it tidy. We mustn`t litter. We mustn`t draw on the desks and walls of our school. When we unite with our friends we`ll be able to save our home. Everything is in our hands.
