What can be done to protect peace

        A lot of countries all over the world aspire to a lasting peace. Is it really possible to stop wars and live without military conflicts? There are many reasons for protesting against wars. It is a well-known fact that war harms everyone and everything. The statistics says that about ten million children were only psychologically damaged in armed conflicts during the past decades. Moreover, two million children were killed, five million - disabled. The number of girls and boys who became homeless is also frightening. So, what should be done to keep international and national peace and security?

        First of all, governments of different countries, no matter where they are situated, should cooperate with each other. For example, their leaders, Ministers of Foreign Affairs can hold international meetings and negotiations on problems of war and peace in conflicted areas in order to pledge to refuse to participate in aggressive military actions or conflicts. Nowadays there are even some international organizations which aim is connected with working together for world peace. One of such organizations is the United Nations Organization, which was established by 50 nations in 1945 in San Francisco. The first fifty member countries live together in peace, practice tolerance and help other countries to improve life of people, to live without evils and hardships.

        Secondly, ordinary people should do everything possible to keep peace. There are a lot of ways to do it. Some people organize and participate in peace rallies.  For instance, Jamel Bahly, a middle aged Frenchman, has been running for a lot of years across every continent in order to draw people’s attention to peace. He met famous people, visited war zones, shared his experiences in schools, published books. It is his personal mission to tell people around about the horrors of war, to teach young children and teenagers tolerance, to meet and make friends with people of different countries and cultures, to share and develop the ideas of peace. I personally believe that common people must propagate peace by all possible means, for example, taking part in anti-war actions, writing articles about civilians in wartime and wounded soldiers, organizing peace events.

        Finally, to prevent wars in future a lot should be done right now. To my mind, taking part in international projects, working together is the best way to understanding people belonging to different cultures and speaking different languages. Children should be taught how to solve their problems peacefully, must be explained that there are diplomatic solutions to all war conflicts. They must know the value of human life.  

        In conclusion, it is necessary to say that all people together and each of us individually should resist nationalism and ethnic tensions. We should bear in mind that cultural and religious diversity makes our life richer. I advise everybody to do something to protect peace right now.
