• Let’s listen to a popular Christmas song. What’s its name?

Учитель предлагает послушать очень популярную в Англии рождественскую песню Jingle Bells.

Затем учитель вместе с учениками переводят припев и проговаривают его вслух.

Затем учащиеся слушают песню еще раз и стараются подпевать.

When is Christmas celebrated? Yes, you are right. Christmas is celebrated on the 25th of December.

 How are the English getting ready for Christmas? They have a special Advent calendar.

An Advent calendar is a special calendar used to count the days of Advent in anticipation of Christmas. Usually it is the card or a cardboard house with opening windows. In each window, some sweets are hidden.

Another Christmas tradition is Christmas wreath. There are 4 candles on it. They are lit on every Sunday. These candles represent the coming of the light of Christ into the world.

Who helps Santa Clause to deliver presents? Yes, his reindeer help him!

Santa Claus's reindeer form an imaginary team of flying reindeer traditionally held to pull the sleigh of Santa Claus and help him deliver Christmas gifts. The reindeer also have their names: Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, and Blitzen. 

They deliver presents to the children during the night.

Have you heard about Christmas stockings? It is said that once when Santa was flying past the house, he dropped some golden coins. They fell into the chimney and got into the sock, which was drying on the fireplace. Since that time, it has become a tradition to hang stockings on the fireplace in the hope that Santa will drop something again. Families have stockings with their names on them.

People like to sing songs on Christmas. They are called Christmas carols. They tell us about Jesus Christ and the time of his birth.

What do you know about Christmas food? Let’s start with something sweet. People cook Christmas cookies. They have forms of Santa, Christmas trees, presents, stars. Children usually leave the cookies on the fireplace for Santa to take them. This way, the children express their gratitude to Santa Claus.

Another famous symbol of Christmas is candy cane. It is the candy in the form of the cane. Traditionally it’s white with red stripes. It has the flavour of cinnamon and mint. Parents usually give candy canes to their children on Christmas.  Candy cane has the form of the letter J, which symbolizes the name Jesus.

Traditional Christmas dinner in England include roast turkey with potatoes and other vegetables, Christmas pudding and mince pies.  Christmas pudding is a dessert, consisting of dried fruit. Mince pies are the pies with sweet stuffing.

Now I invite you to take part in Christmas Quiz. You will see the question on the board, you have to choose right answer during thirty seconds, when the time is over, the right answer will be shown on the board and you are to check if your answer is right.

Затем учитель приглашает учащихся принять участие в Рождественской викторине. На доске будет показано пять вопросов, в которых нужно выбрать правильный ответ в течение 30 секунд. По истечении этого времени, правильный ответ будет показан на доске.

Учащиеся отвечают на вопросы викторины, затем сверяют свои ответы с ответами на доске.

Now let’s write Christmas greetings. You are to read Christmas poems and to guess what word is hidden in the brackets.

Учитель предлагает ученикам познакомится с рождественскими поздравлениями в Англии. Учитель раздает ученикам раздаточные карточки (Приложение 1), где ученикам нужно догадаться какое слово зашифровано в скобочках.

Now you are to check your answers.

Затем ученики проверяют ответы (они указаны на слайдах).

I have a little gift for you

Please take the Christmas cards, you are to colour them and write the greeting you liked most of all!

Затем учитель предлагает ученикам взять карточки –рождественские открытки- из подарочного пакета Ученики должны их раскрасить и написать понравившиеся поздравление на открытке.

Учащиеся работают самостоятельно в раздаточных материалах. Затем проверяют друг друга. Далее ответы проверяются с помощью учителя.

Ученики берут рождественские открытки. подписывают их и раскрашивают.
