Викторина по английскому языку для 5-6 классов

Цель: закрепление имеющихся знаний в области английского языка посредством игровой ситуации.

Задачи:

Образовательная

- повышать познавательный интерес учащихся к языку через использование игровых моментов;

- закрепить умение говорить на иностранном языке;

- обучение навыкам восприятия иностранной речи на слух.

Развивающая

- развивать внимание и память учащихся;

- развивать умение работать в группе.

Воспитательная

- умение работать в сотрудничестве с другими;

- воспитывать уважительное отношение к культуре других стран.

“Jeopardy”

Welcome to the game “Jeopardy”. (презентация)

Let's introduce our jury: Irina Mihailovna, Tatiana Sergeevna, Ekaterina Borisovna and Evgeniya Urievna.

Our game consists of 4 rounds. In each round you should try to get as many points as you can. The winner is the team which gets the largest number of points. REMEMBER we'll cut down your points if you prompt or misbehave.

Before we start, we want the leaders of the teams to come up and choose the flag.

Your team is called «The UK №1», your team is the first to answer «Canada №2», «The USA № 3».

ROUND 1 “Forward”(заставка)

If you choose Traditions and Customs, The Geography and Political Outlook, and Pig in a Poke you'll get 2 points, sights 3 points and Famous British People 4 points.

Famous British People (4 points)

1. She was born in 1891. She was a worldwide writer. She wrote 75 detective stories. Her main character was an old woman named Miss Maple. She died in 1976.(Agatha Christy)
2. He was born in 1564 in Stratford-on-Avon. He was one of the world’s greatest writers. In London  he became an actor and began to write plays. He wrote many beautiful sonnets and plays for the famous Globe Theatre. He died in 1616.(William Shakespeare)
3. This man is one of the greatest scientists in the world. He was born in 1809. He applied the theory of evolution to the human race. He died in 1882 and buried in Westminster Abbey.(Charles Darwin)
4. He was born in 1859. He did much for the English detective literature. But he was an outstanding writer, because he wrote some scientific stories. His famous hero was Sherlock Holmes.(Sir Arthur Conan Doyle)

You should translate the sentences from English into Russian. If your translation is correct you'll get 3 points.

Round 2 “Happy chance” (3 points)

1. The full name of the country is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Полное название страны – Соединённое Королевство Великобритании и Северной Ирландии.
2.  The UK is a constitutional monarchy. In law the head of the state is the Queen.  Соединённое Королевство Великобритания – это конституционная монархия.  По закону Королева-глава государства.
3. The residence of the Houses of Parliament is in Westminster Palace. Расположение (резиденция) Английского Парламента – это Вестминстерский дворец.  
4.  The Queen has always been popular with the British People. Королева всегда любима своим народом ( популярна в народе).  
5. The ravens are certainly among the most important residents in the Tower. Вороны, определённо, являются самыми важными обитателями в Тауэре,
6. One tower is a Clock Tower called Big Ben with a huge bell.  Одна башня является Часовой Башней, называемой Биг Бен, с громадными часами с боем.

ROUND 3 “The Hurry After the Leader” (по презентации)

Your task is to make up the English proverbs using the Russian equivalents. You have 1 minute, raise your flag when you're ready to answer. In this round you'll get 4 points for each proverb.

Один утренний час лучше двух вечерних. Ср. Утро вечера мудренее.

Every cook praises his own broth

 Всякий повар свое варево хвалит. Ср. Всяк кулик свое болото хвалит.

He  that would eat the fruit must climb the tree

Кто хочет съесть плод, должен влезть на дерево. Ср. Любишь кататься, люби и саночки возить.

A cracked bell can never sound well.  Треснутый колокол уже никогд хорошо не зазвенит. Ср. Разбитую чашку не склеишь.

ROUND 4 “Final Round” (видео)

Now we'll show you some episodes of the famous English stories. If you name the story and its author you'll get 6 points. If you name either the story or the author you'll get 3 points.

The task is to be the first! Don't forget to raise your flag. Please, don't cry out any suggestions we'll cut down your points if you misbehave.
