« Town Life. London»

(по учебнику И.Н.Верещагиной для 4 класса школ с углубленным изучением

 английского языка)

Цели урока:

• познавательный аспект – увеличение объема знаний об особенностях культуры страны изучаемого языка; знакомство с достопримечательностями Англии;
• развивающий аспект – развитие навыков монологической и диалогической речи; развитие творческих способностей учащихся;
• воспитательный аспект – прививать интерес к культуре Англии;

Задачи урока:

• совершенствование речевых умений по теме;
• совершенствование умений аудировать с целью извлечения необходимой информации;
• совершенствование читать текст с детальным пониманием и обобщать полученные знания.

 T. Today we are going to have a trip to London. We'll see the most interesting places there. We heard about sights, but we do not know much about them. That is why we decided to ask British about places of interests. Today Helen and Galya are   British and others are tourists. Now we will repeat   Present Perfect Tense

 P.1. – Welcome to our capital, dear guests. We are glad to greet you in the capital of our country. It is a very old city. London has got three parts: the city of London, the West End, the East End.

The heart of London is the City. It is the oldest part of London. Many people work in the City but very few live there. There are many banks and other offices there too. You can visit some interesting places in the City or near it.

n  P.4 -How many people live in London?

P.1 – The population of London is about 9 million people.

P. 2– There are a lot of interesting places in London. For example,  Buckingham Palace is a London home of the Queen. When the flag is waving on the top she is at home. The Queen lives there. It is a wonderful building with a monument in front of it which is the Queen Victoria Memorial. It takes people ten or twenty minutes to get from Buckingham Palace to Trafalgar Square, the centre of London.

n  P. 5 -When was it built?

P.2. – It was built in the 18th centaury.

P.1.-- Westminster Abbey is a very important church, it is one of the most famous and beautiful churches in London.  It is very old. It is more than nine hundred years old.  In 1952 Queen Elizabeth ΙΙ was crowned   there. Many English kings and queens, great writers  are buried there.

The Abbey with its two tall towers is really wonderful.

n  P. 6. -Who was buried in the Abbey?

P.1. – Newton, Darvin and others were buried in the Abbey.

P. 2.– The Tower of London is a very old building. English Kings lived in it many years ago. It was a fortress, a Royal Palace and later a prison. But now it is a museum. William the Conqueror built it in the eleventh century. There are always black ravens in it.

n  P. 7. -I heard that the ravens lived there many years ago. Do they live nowadays?

P.2. – Yes, they are. Because without them the Tower will fall.

P. 1.--  Big Ben is the name of huge clock in one of the tall Towers of the Houses of Parliament. Big Ben is the name of the clock and the bell of the clock tower of the Houses of Parliament. You can hear the sound of Big Ben every hour in London. The clock and the bell got their names after Sir Benjamin Hall. He was a tall man, whose nickname was Big Ben. So people know the clock  as Big Ben.

n  P.8. -How many tons does it weigh?

P. – It weighs 13.5 tons.

T. – Now we have finished our trip. Thank you very much. It was very interesting to know more about London.  It's time to go home. Now take your seats, please.
