«Мы говорим о любви»

“WE ARE SPEAKING ABOUT… LOVE”

(29 января 2010)

Цель мероприятия:

повышение культурного и образовательного уровня учащихся.

Задачи:

освоение навыков активного овладения чтением, пониманием и восприятием усвоенных стихов, песен и сценок в имитативной форме;

углубление знаний учащихся по обычаям и традициям проведения Дня Св. Валентина, существующих в англоязычных странах;

развитие индивидуальных умений работы в творческом коллективе и культуры публичного выступления, умение оценивать выступления;

развитие эстетического вкуса в музыке и стихе;

воспитание у учащихся уважения к носителям иноязычной культуры;

стимулирование интереса учащихся к изучению английского языка.

Оборудование и оформление:

стенды, плакаты, валентинки, шары, магнитофон, аудиозапись, компьютер, записи песен, презентация в Power Point, костюмы.

Teacher: Good afternoon, dear guests and students! Ladies and gentlemen! Boys and girls! We are glad to see you in this hall! We invite you to our concert, the concert of poetry, music and English. In two weeks all the English-speaking countries will celebrate one of the most romantic holidays, St.Valentine’s Day. In Russia we call it «День всех влюблённых».

Welcome to our program presented by the students of different classes. We are speaking about love! We are ready to start.

(На скамейке сидит девушка и читает книгу. Влетает молодой человек в наушниках с плейером, звучит громкая  современная музыка.)

Девушка:  Ой, привет, я так замечталась, что не заметила, как ты подошёл.

Юноша: Да уж, ты когда читаешь, хоть из пушки пали, ничего не замечаешь. Я к тебе по делу. У меня тут с английским проблемы.

(девушка не реагирует на него)

             Катя! Ты вообще меня слышишь? Что ты там читаешь?

Д.: А? Что? Извини, я читаю о любви.

Ю.: О, Господи! И что это все девушки на любви помешались? Книжки о любви, фильмы о любви, песенки там всякие «любовь-морковь».

Д.: Как ты можешь такое говорить?! Все великие мира поклонялись любви, боготворили её, воспевали. Вот послушай: - Любить – значит, видеть чудо, необходимое для других.

                                             - Когда мы любим, мы теряем зрение.

                                             - Любовь побеждает всё.

Ю.: А! Ты любишь афоризмы! Так вот тебе:

                                                     - Любовь одна, а подделок под неё тысячи.

                                                     - Истинная любовь похожа на привидение.

                                                     - Все о ней говорят, но мало, кто её видел.

Д.: (грустно) Мы можем спорить бесконечно. Во все времена, в разных странах, на всех языках мира говорили о любви. Не имели значения ни возраст, ни язык, слова любви понятны всем:

• We are speaking about love. Do you know what is love?
• Love… only four letters, but it’s a big word. Each person has his own idea about what it means.
• You are right. The word ‘love’ can have many different meanings. But through all these meanings many people would agree that they want to love and to be loved.

-Today, we have an excellent chance to plunge into the atmosphere of love and friendship. Happy St. Valentine’s Day! It’s here again, the day when boys and girls, sweethearts and lovers, friends and classmates will exchange greetings, and confess their love.

- We are speaking about the holiday St.Valentine’s Day. Now let’s speak about the origin of this holiday.

- What do you know about it?

- I know a little, but Татьяна Тюпина и Никита Титов will tell us about it.

Valentine's Day - the popular festival of love and romances traces its origin to ancient Roman festival and has not been created by card companies as some people believe it to be. There are various legends associated with the festival along with the belief that birds began to mate from this day.

According to another version of legend Valentine was killed because he attempted to help Christians escape from the Roman prison as they were being tortured and beaten there. Yet another popular version of the legend states that while in prison Valentine or Valentinus fell in love with jailer's daughter who visited him during confinement. Before his death Valentine wrote a farewell letter to his sweetheart from the jail and signed ‘From your Valentine'. The expression became quite popular amongst love struck and is still very much in vogue.
The story goes that during the reign of Emperor Claudius II Rome was involved in several bloody and unpopular campaigns. Claudius found it tough to get soldiers and felt the reason was men did not join army because they did not wish to leave their wives and families. As a result Claudius cancelled all marriages and engagements in Rome. A romantic at heart priest of Rome Saint Valentine defied Claudius's unjustified order. Along with Saint Marius, St Valentine secretly married couples. When his defiance was discovered, Valentine was brutally beaten and put to death on February 14, about 270 AD. After his death Valentine was named a Saint.
One of the most popular customs of Valentine's Day observed worldwide is to go on a date with sweetheart. Those without a date start looking for one days before the festival.

Romantic festival of St Valentine's Day is celebrated with enthusiasm and fond regard in several countries around the world. Most commonly observed Valentine's Day tradition and custom is expressing one's love with an exchange of cards, flowers and gifts.

There are several other Valentine's Day customs and traditions associated with festival but these vary in different countries because of the social and cultural differences. What remains the same everywhere though is celebration of love by lovers.

In the beginning, Valentine's Day was associated with romantic couples only but in recent times the festival is seen in much larger perspective. Now, people take opportunity of the day to wish ‘Happy Valentine's Day' to anyone they love be it father, mother, teachers, siblings, friends, co-workers or just anyone special to them.

In several countries including United States and Canada there is a tradition to organize Valentine's Day classroom parties in schools. In such parties children exchange chocolates and Valentine's Day cards with their friends. British children sing special Valentine's Day song and receive candies and chocolates as reward. Senior school children usually organize Valentine's Day dance parties and have fun with friends.

    "This is the legend of how St. Valentine's Day began. When the Roman emperor Claudius 11 needed soldiers, he made a law against marrying because he left that marriage made men want to stay at home instead of fighting wars. But at that time there was a kindly priest named Valentine. He couldn't agree with the emperor's decision. When he saw that young couples were truly in love, he married them secretly'.

     Выходят юноша и девушка. Они падают на колени и умоляют священника совершить обряд бракосочетания. Священник выполняет их просьбу.

Священник: My daughter! My son! I declare you husband and wife!

Звучит марш Мендельсона. Врывается стража.

Стражник: Priest, you have been discovered and condemned to death! To prison! To Tower!

Следующая сцена: Священник в тюрьме. Входит тюремщик с дочерью.

Священник: What a beautiful girl!

Тюремщик: This is my daughter. She is blind! She will probably never see the light, the trees ! (Рыдает).

Священник: I'll help her by working a miracle!

Через некоторое время дочь тюремщика показывает, что к ней вернулось зрение.

Девушка: I'm so grateful to you. Even in prison you. Valentine, showed your love for everyone and restored my sight!

Священник: Unfortunately, tomorrow, on February, I am to die. But I 'm scared and I want to tell everybody on earth, "I love you. I'm your Valentine” Голос из-за кулис: Just before his death, on February 14, he sent her a farewell message signed from your Valentine'.

Another subject, you can’t find.

You don’t care what people say.

She: Who can do it better than she herself?

I hope that Valentine’s Day

He thinks you’re extra-specially nice,

And so does everyone.

She: It has become a tradition for many couples to become engaged on Valentine’s Day.

He: Let’s remember some famous couples. Let’s play a “Broken Heart”. Please, look at the screen.

She: You can see different hearts. Each heart is cut into two separate puzzle pieces. On each half there is a name of a very famous person. You are to match the famous couples:

Romeo – Juliet

Caesar – Cleopatra

Adam – Eve

Lady Di – Prince Charles

Napoleon – Josephine

Rhett Butler – Scarlet O’Hara

She: Did you know that your heart beats faster when you are in love? This is why the heart is considered to be center of our emotions and is always used to illustrate love.

He:

Not only a heart but also a red rose is the symbol of St.Valentine’s Day.

She: Thank you. You are right. Traditionally, valentine cards are decorated with hearts, Cupids, flowers and other symbols of love.

He: Булава Светлана will tell us about St.Valentine’s Day symbols.

Rose is one of the most popular flower and one of the most powerful symbol of Valentine's Day. Since time immemorial rose flower has been a favorite of poets and romantics at heart. For them, the lovely rose stand for beauty, passion and love.

Every year on February 14 lovers long for a gift of Rose from their Valentine as the flower has come to denote ‘I love you'.

Red heart pierced by the Cupid's arrow is a traditional symbol of Valentine's Day. Heart symbolizes love and giving someone a heart means to hand over one's existence to someone. A heart pierced by a Cupid's arrow means that when someone presents a heart, the person takes the risk of being rejected and feeling hurt.

It is believed that Cupid had a bow with a quiver of arrows and anyone hit by Cupid's arrow did not die but fell in love.

Winged and mischievous little angel called Cupid is one of the very famous Valentine's Day Symbols.

In Greek mythology, Cupid is known by the name of Eros and as the son of Aphrodite - the Greek Goddess of Love. In Roman and Greek mythology Cupid is always shown as a youth and not as a fat baby with wings. In Latin, however, the meaning of the word ‘Cupid' is desire.

Lovebirds and Doves are an endearing and prominent Valentine's Day symbols. The symbol traces its origin from a belief in the olden times that birds found their mate on February 14.

He: Love is fascinating feeling. But love between men and women is unpredictable. When two people fall in love with each other they experience both joy and sadness.

She: I love you too, my honey. And I agree.

He: Сегодня мы концерт посвятили Дню св. Валентина, который является западным праздником. В нашей стране тоже есть свой день влюблённых.

She: «Всероссийский день семьи, любви и верности» отмечается 8 июля, когда остановились в один день два преданных друг другу сердца, Петра и Февронии Муромских, показав всей своей земной жизнью, что такое семья, любовь и верность.

He: Dear guests, take these flowers and Valentine cards as a small present. Let them make you remember about someone who is waiting for your attention.

(Участники концерта дарят цветы и валентинки гостям)
