Внешность
Topic: Appearance
Aims: - to revise new words on the topic (parts of the human body, adjectives)
- to practice the verb to be in Past Simple
- to develop speaking skills, to train describing people
- to learn making projects and telling about relatives
Aids: Student’s books, Workbooks, a tape-recorder, a computer presentation, pupils’ projects
Reading: slides, ex.1, p.164, ex.5, p.167.
Speaking: describing people, telling about relatives
Listening: to the tape with the description of Rob and Robin Mac Wizard
I. Тема урока: «Внешность»
II. Задачи урока: 1. Тренировать лексику по теме: «Внешность человека».
2. Развивать навыки монологического высказывания, учить делать описание людей.
3. Тренировать использование глагола to be в Past Simple.
4. Развивать навыки аудирования.
III. План урока:
- Начало урока:
а) Организационный момент
в) Сообщение темы и задач урока
c) Фонетическая разминка.
2. Основная часть урока:
а) Работа над лексикой по теме раздела
в) Повторение грамматического материала
с) Формирование монологической речи у учащихся
3. Заключительный этап урока: а) Итоги урока.
в) Домашнее задание.
Teacher: Good morning! Glad to see you! Sit down, please.
Pupils: Glad to see you too!
T. How are you?
P. Fine, thank you, and you?
T. I’m OK, thanks. Are you ready to start? Then, let’s begin our lesson. Today we have guests on our lesson and we will sum up with the topic “Appearance ”(slide1). We will revise all new words, the verb to be in Past Simple, we will practice describing people and at last you’ll tell us about members of your families (slide2).
T. But to begin with let’s read a small poem (slide3).
Two little ears and one little nose
Two blue eyes and fifty whys
Nice brown hair with 2 little bows
That’s a picture of my sister Rose.
Listen to me, please…. Now you read it one by one… Now let’s translate the poem… Answer my questions: What colour is her hair? What colour are her eyes? Are her ears small or big? Is Rosy beautiful? (Pupils answer).
T. OK, let’s revise parts of the human body (slide4) (Pupils name them).
T. Thank you. Now tell me, please, what is the English for…? (slide5) (Pupils translate).
T. Now let’s find the opposites (slide6) (Pupils do).

T. Thank you. Please, look at the blackboard and find the mistakes, try to correct them (slide7) (Pupils do).
1. I can speak English when I was nine.
2. Jane were at home on Sunday.
3. We was at school yesterday.
4. Where do you were yesterday?
5. It were cold yesterday.
T. And what do you look like? Please, ask each other (slide8) (Pupils ask).
1. What colour are your eyes?
2. What colour is your hair?
3. Is your hair straight or curly?
4. Are you tall or short?
5. Is your nose big or small?
6. Are your ears small or big?
T. Let’s revise 2 questions that can be mixed. What do they mean? Translate them, please.
What does he look like?
Who does he look like?
T. Thank you! And now I have some sentences for you to translate (slide9) (Pupils translate):
1. What does your friend look like? – He is tall and blonde.
2. Who do you look like? – I look like my mother.
3. He doesn’t look like his father. He has blue eyes and his hair is black.
T. Thank you very much. Your home task was to make pictures of Rob and Robin Mac Wizard. What does Rob look like? What does Robin look like? Let’s check your descriptions. Please, listen to the tape-recorder and check them. (Pupils listen) Are your descriptions right? That’s good.
And now I have some pictures for you. Please, look at the table, answer my questions and explain your answers (slide10)

- Who does Betsy look like? (Pupils do)
T. Your second home task was to make a project about one member of your family. Please, come to the blackboard and tell us about your relatives. (Pupils come out, hang their projects and tell about their relatives).
T. That’s really nice, thank you very much! I enjoyed your projects. Our lesson today was very busy: we’ve revised parts of a human body and other new words, we practiced using the verb to be in Past Simple; and then you described Rob and Robin. After that you told us about your relatives and I liked your work very much. I give excellent marks to…., I give good marks to…, and I didn’t like the work of…., you get a satisfactory mark.
Your home task for the next lesson is exs.3, 4 on pages 62-63 in Workbooks (slide11). Thank you for your work, the lesson is over, you may be free. Good bye!
