Jacob’s Diary

Dear Diary,

Well, it is 4th June and the first day of my 7-day stay in London. The journey by plane from Gdansk didn’t take very long – about two hours and fifteen minutes and we landed at 5.20pm. We took a taxi to the Savoy Hotel in the Strand. The taxi ride was very expensive! I can’t believe Dad paid £55 for a 13km drive!  

I’m so excited about tomorrow! In the morning my friend, Albin, my brother, Cyryl, and I are going to get up at 10 o’clock and have a big breakfast in the hotel restaurant at 10.30. Then we’re going to visit (1) ____________________ . It’s going to be a clear day, so the view will be amazing. The top is 135 metres up, so we’ll be able to see about 40km! It takes 30 minutes to go around once, but we want to go round two times, so we’ll be on it for about an hour!

After that we’ll buy bus tickets because we want to go to (2) ____________________ . I’ll take my guide book, so we won’t get lost. I should take some sun cream too, so I don’t burn in the sun. Albin and I hope to see the Queen while we’re there! Dad says that’s silly – the newspaper says she’s travelling to Scotland today.

Later in the day we’re going on a guided tour – it’s cheap. Adults pay £10 and students pay £7.50. The tour starts at 2pm and finishes at 4pm. We’ll go past the Houses of Parliament and stop to take photos of the most famous clock in the world, (3) ____________________ . Then we’ll get back on the bus and go to (4) ____________________ – maybe I’ll see the Prime Minister while I’m there! And that’s where the tour ends.

The last thing we’ll do tomorrow is go to (5) ____________________ . It’s going to be a very cool experience because there are going to be hundreds of famous people there – well OK, they aren’t real people, they’re made of wax, but it will still be fantastic! I’ll ‘meet’ the famous pop star Lady Gaga and the film star Charlie Chaplin. Best of all will be the footballer, David Beckham – I can’t wait!

Well, it’s nearly twelve o’clock, so I’m going to sleep now.
