THE BRITISH WAY OF LIFE

Предметная область: Английский язык

Участники: 6 класс

Цель: развитие навыка поискового чтения.

Задачи:

-развитие навыков самостоятельного поиска информации;

-развитие навыков монологической речи;

-развитие навыков аудирования;

-развитие критического мышления через чтение;

-развитие умения работать в группе;

-развитие умения осуществлять межпредметный перенос знаний;

-формирование толерантного отношения к представителям чужой культуры, умения сопоставлять и сравнивать факты собственной и чужой культуры.

Аннотация:

Предлагаемая разработка учебного занятия основана на использовании методов развития критического мышления, которые, по мнению ее автора, являются одними из продуктивных средств достижения целей обучения на современном этапе – развитие исследовательских навыков учащихся, их способности работать самостоятельно с текстом, находить необходимую информацию без тотального контроля со стороны учителя. К указанным методам относятся – brainstorming, бортовой журнал, ромашка Блума. Именно они видятся автору наиболее адекватными теме учебного занятия The British Way of Life, которая всегда вызывает интерес, не оставляет равнодушным ни одного учащегося.

Структура урока позволяет учащимся не только получить новую информацию, но и обсудить ее, высказать собственное мнение, тем самым подготавливая учащихся к монологическому высказыванию по теме, т.е. к умению, необходимому на более старших этапах обучения.  Дифференцированный подход в распределении заданий на этапе обсуждения прочитанного позволяет всем учащимся высказать свое мнение без необходимости повторяться, продемонстрировать собственный вклад в анализ текста.

Кроме того, использование групповых методов обучения активизирует учащихся, развивает их способность работать сообща, выслушивать мнение каждого, раскрепощает, развивает их способность к взаимному контролю.

В дополнение к сказанному стоит отметить, что на уроке консолидируются лексические и грамматические умения, ранее сформированные у учащихся в рамках раздела.

2 Warm-up

Учитель: Listen to the pieces of advice I’m going to read you out and put down the number of those which are good and correct:

1 You should take off your hat when you come in.

2 You should put the feet on the table.

3 You should keep your mouth open when you’re eating.

4 You should take your elbows off the table when eating.

5 You should use a fork and a knife.

KEY: 1, 4, 5

Учащиеся слушают и записывают номера правильных предложений.

Учитель: Discuss in pairs how you should change the sentences 2, 3 to make them correct.

Учащиеся обсуждают в парах, затем называют получившиеся варианты советов.

Учитель: Listen to a poem and then say if it’s about good or bad manners.

Учитель: Listen again and say if your guesses in task 1 are the same.

3 Brainstorming

Учитель: Those people who have good manners are called polite or well-mannered people. You’re polite people, aren’t you? So you know what it means. Work in groups and brainstorm ideas: What comes to your mind when you hear a phrase  A POLITE PERSON?

Suggested variants:

4 Reading

a Учитель: These are some facts about people living on the continent. Read them and complete the sentences. Do you think people in Russia can be characterized in the same way? (слайд 2)

Раздаточный материал:

Учащиеся заполняют пропуски, зачитывают получившиеся предложения.

KEY: People seldom speak about the weather.

People try to show off their knowledge.

You can offend people if laugh at them.

People can tell you either truth, or lie.

People think life is a game.

People have good food.

Учащиеся сравнивают данные факты с элементами родной культуры.

Учитель: Now draw a table with 2 columns in your copybooks.

and put down the facts from task a in the first column.

Учащиеся рисуют таблицу в тетрадях, записывают факты с карточек в первую колонку.

b (prediction) Учитель: People say that the British are very unusual people. Can you guess how these facts should be changed to become true for the British.

Учащиеся на основе уже имеющихся фоновых знаний делают предположения относительно британского образа жизни.

 c (reading) Учитель: Read the text “The British Way of Life”, p. 186 in your Student’s Books and check your guesses. Discuss the results in groups. Put the corresponding facts in the second column.

Вопросы предлагаются учащимся в соответствии с дифференцированным подходом – сильным учащимся представляется целесообразным предложить CREATIVE QUESTION, INTERPRETING QUESTION, в то время как учащимся послабее – SIMPLE QUESTION, учащимся, склонным к рефлексии – EVOLUATIVE QUESTION, а активным и артистичным – PRACTICAL QUESTION.

5 Speaking

Учитель: Now in groups discuss the questions:

-What can you say about Russian way of life? Use the facts you’ve learned today. Don’t forget about linking words according to, as far as I see it and so on (слайд 4).
