Внеклассное мероприятие по английскому языку

Форма урока: викторина

Задачи:

познакомить с традициями Англии;

познакомить с историей праздника “День Святого Валентина”;

отработать ЛЕ в устной речи;

закрепить знания грамматического материала;

активизировать учебные умения и навыки школьников.

Воспитательно-образовательные:

развивать логическое мышление;

расширить кругозор и словарный запас;

развивать устную речь учащихся;

повысить интерес к изучению английского языка;

воспитывать уважение к культуре страны изучаемого языка.

1 ЭТАП

Знакомство с историей праздника “День Святого Валентина”.

Вот несколько страниц из истории этого праздника.

No one really knows the actual origin of Valentine's Day. Many historians, however, seem to trace it to an ancient Roman festival called Lupercalia. This was held on February 15 to honor Faunus, the god of animal life, hunting, herding, the patron of husbandry, and the guardian of the secret lore of nature. After Christianity spread, some think this pagan festival eventually became Valentine's Day.

Other experts connect Valentine's Day with two saints of the early Christian church. According to one story, St. Valentine's was a priest who would marry young couples against the orders of the Roman Emperor Claudius 11, who believed that single young men made better soldiers. This story goes back to about A.D. 200.

There also was another St. Valentine who was a good friend to children. Because he would not worship the gods decreed by the Roman emperor, he was put in prison. While he was imprisoned, the children that he had befriended missed him and brought him loving notes. Many of the notes expressed the thought that "absence makes the heart grow fonder." He was supposedly executed on February 14 in A.D. 270. Some people think this is why we exchange friendly and caring messages on this day.

Some people connect the celebrating of Valentine's Day with an old English belief that birds choose their mates on February. This, too, possible, since spring was less than a month away. The calendar used before 1582 was slightly different from the one we use now. Spring arrived on March 11 on the old calendar.

Many old-fashioned Valentine's Day customs involved ways single women could learn their future husbands might be. In England in the 1700s, women wrote men's names on scraps of paper, rolled each in a ball of clay, and dropped them into water. The first paper that surfaced supposedly had the name of the woman's true love.

The customs of sending valentine cards started in Europe in the 1700s. Commercial valentines were first made in the early 1800s. Kate Greenaway, a British artist, was one of the leading makers of valentines. Her valentines are known for her drawing of little children and the varied shades of blues and greens that she favored. Whatever the origin, Valentine's Day is celebrated in many parts of the world today and is a holiday for both young and old.

"This is the legend of how St. Valentine's Day began. When the Roman emperor Claudius 11 needed soldiers, he made a law against marrying because he left that marriage made men want to stay at home instead of fighting wars. But at that time there was a kindly priest named Valentine. He couldn't agree with the emperor's decision. When he saw that young couples were truly in love, he married them secretly'.

Выходят юноша и девушка. Они падают на колени и умоляют священника совершить обряд бракосочетания. Священник выполняет их просьбу.

Звучит марш Мендельсона. Врывается стража.

Стражник 1: Priest, you have been discovered and condemned to death!

Стражник 2: To prison! To Tower!

Следующая сцена: Священник в тюрьме. Исполняется танец привидений. Входит тюремщик с дочерью.

Священник: What a beautiful girl!

Тюремщик: This is my daughter. She is blind! She will probably never see the light, the trees ! (Рыдает).

Священник: I'll help her by working a miracle!

Через некоторое время дочь тюремщика показывает, что к ней вернулось зрение.

Девушка: I'm so grateful to you. Even in prison you. Valentine, showed your love for everyone and restored my sight!

Священник: Unfortunately, tomorrow, on February, I am to die. But I 'm scared and I want to tell everybody on earth, "I love you. I'm your Valentine” Голос из-за кулис: Just before his death, on February 14, he sent her a farewell message signed from your Valentine'.

Эта история печальна, а мы собрались веселиться.

II. ЭТАП Quiz

We are divided into 2 teams and we are named them. "Romeo" is the name of the 1st team. '' Juliet'' is the name of the 2nd team.

I. Приветствие и сообщение целей урока.

T: - Good morning, boys and girls!

T: - Thank you, children. Take your seats, please. Today we shall speak about our family, we’ll read the text, play some games and sing a song.

II. Фонетическая зарядка.

T: - Now, children, look at the blackboard. Name the sound!

T: - That’s right. Let’s pronounce this sound. Listen to me!

Язык должен находиться у нижних зубов. Он слегка приподнят дугой. Под подбородок надо положить руку, чтобы она не прикасалась подбородка. Широко раскрываем рот. При этом подбородок касается руки.

Дорогие друзья, наверно, не все знают об истории этого праздника.

Существует красивая, но трагическая легенда о том, почему 14 февраля назван Валентиновым днём. Давайте вспомним её.

(Ведущий уходит на край сцены, а Амур садится на край сцены с другой стороны и болтает ногами.)

Много веков тому назад, ещё во времена Римской империи, «рядовым» и «ефрейторам», участвовавшим в войнах, строго-настрого запрещалось жениться. Неподалёку от Рима жил христианский епископ по имени Тернийский Валентин. Он как священник тайком венчал молодые влюблённые пары вопреки приказам Клавдия Второго, который в каждом одиноком неженатом юноше видел только своего солдата.

Стоп! Неужели мы будем смотреть венчание в Римской империи. Это скучно! Давайте посмотрим, как бы это выглядело в 20 веке.

( звучит фрагмент восточной музыки)

св. Валентин

Абдулла-а-а!

Абдулла (с акцентом)

Я здесь.

св. Валентин

Согласен ли ты взять в жёны Фатиму?

(Вбегает Фатима)

Абдулла

Да. Согласен.

св. Валентин

А Зульфию?

Абдулла

Да. Согласен.

Гульнару?! Лейлу?! Зухраб?! Зейнаб?!

Да! Да! Да! И ещё раз да!

И ма-а-аленькую Гульчатай?! (Вбегает крупного телосложения мальчик, одетый в одежду восточной девушки, на голове – парик (длинные волосы, заплетённые в косички)

св. Валентин

Поздно. За всё уже уплачено! Жёны могут поцеловать мужа.

(Звучит вальс Мендельсона. Невесты кидаются целовать Абдуллу, а маленькая Гульчатай, всех оттолкнув, кидается на руки Абдулле. Они уходят.)

(Звучит музыка в стиле «Металл». Выходят два очкарика – жених и невеста – с такими же родителями)

Мам, а где у него «Enter» ?

Пап, а у неё флешка большая?

Конкурсная программа

Мы приглашаем на сцену девушек и юношей, которые хотят принять участие в конкурсе.

( Девушки и юноши поднимаются на сцену.)

Вед 2

Для начала вы должны определиться. Надо выбрать себе пару, а для этого просим девушек стать в линию напротив парней. Юношей прошу по одному подходить ко мне. Я завяжу глаза, а вы должны, как в сказке, бросить свою стрелу. В какую девушку попадёт – та и будет его суженной. Только вместо стрел, у нас будет самолётик.

(Девушки могут меняться местами, когда юноше завяжут глаза.)

(Ведущие прикрепляют номера парам и представляют их. Пары занимают места на сцене.)

А теперь давайте поиграем в игру «Валентин и Валентина». Выигравшая пара провозглашается до конца года влюблёнными. Они должны оказывать друг другу знаки внимания (бать предупредительными, дарить конфеты, шоколадки, называть ласковыми именами).

• Пугают ли вас самостоятельные девушки?

• Приходишь в гости , а он на диване лежит. Твоя реакция?

• Твой молодой человек опрокинул кружку с чаем на скатерть. Что ты скажешь?

2. Предельный уровень влюблённости? (Уши)

3. Какой цветок для подарка главный в День св. Валентина? (Роза)

4. Почему обручальное кольцо носят на безымянном пальце? (От него к сердцу идут нервы)

5. Какое дерево считается свадебным? (Калина. Ею украшают свадебные столы. Калина – символ девичьей красоты, счастья, любви.)

Этот конкурс для юношей. Представьте себе такую ситуацию: на другой стороне дороги, по которой постоянно идут машины, вы увидели свою хорошую знакомую. Вам бы очень хотелось пригласить её…куда – будет ясно позже. И поскольку она слов не может услышать, вам придётся пустить в ход мимику и жесты. Главное, чтобы вас поняли.

Слова (в театр, на урок, на балет, в цирк, на рыбалку)

Итак, подумали. Вперёд. Слово влюблённым.

Происхождение Дня Св. Валентина утеряно в глубинах истории.

О Валентине, давшем празднику свое имя, известно немногое. Говорят, что он жил в III веке н. э., в римском городе Терни. По одним данным, он был простым христианским священником, другие легенды возводят его в ранг епископа. Можно с достаточной уверенностью предположить, что Валентин был молод, хорош собой, добр и отзывчив. Есть сведения о том, что, наряду с основной профессией, Валентин занимался естественными науками и медициной.

Время жизни и деятельности Валентина совпало со временем правления римского императора Клавдия II. Для сохранения воинского духа император издал указ, запрещающий легионерам жениться, ибо вступивший в брак слишком много времени проводит в семье и занят мыслями не о благе империи и воинских доблестях.

Не страшась императорского гнева, молодой христианский священник Валентин продолжал тайно венчать влюбленных легионеров. Он мирил поссорившихся, писал любовные письма за косноязычных вояк, дарил брачующимся парам цветы.

Сохранить все в тайне не было никакой возможности, а поскольку Римская империя славилась своим почтением к законам (по сей день мы во многом живем по Римскому праву), день ото дня тучи сгущались над головой священника.

Легенда окутывает романтическим флером и самые последние дни жизни Валентина. Согласно одним представлениям, в него влюбилась слепая дочь тюремщика. Валентин как священник, давший обет безбрачия, не мог ответить на ее чувства, но в ночь перед казнью (13 февраля) прислал ей трогательное письмо. По другой версии, Валентин сам влюбился в прекрасную девушку, да еще, пользуясь своими медицинскими познаниями, в ожидании казни излечил ее от слепоты. Перед смертью он оставил девушке письмо с объяснением в любви. Отсюда и пошли открытки-валентинки. Его казнили 14 февраля 269 года.

Как все было на самом деле, мы не знаем и уже никогда не узнаем, но несомненно одно – молодой христианский священник действительно погиб во имя Любви. Неудивительно, что о Валентине не забыли и избрали покровителем всех влюбленных. Как христианский мученик, пострадавший за веру, он был канонизирован католической церковью. В Западной Европе День Святого Валентина отмечается с XIII века, в США с 1777 года. Теперь и у нас стало одним праздником больше, хотя на Руси был свой праздник влюбленных. Он отмечался восьмого июля и был связан с легендарной историей любви Петра и Февронии.

Слово «валентинки» ввели в обиход французы. Изначально послания на День святого Валентина – это любовные записки, причем непременно в стихах. Самая древняя «валентинка» приписывается Герцогу Орлеанскому (1415), сидевшему в это время в тюрьме, в одиночной камере, и решившему бороться со скукой путем писания любовных посланий собственной жене. Эта первая «валентинка» сохранилась до нашего времени и выставлена в Британском музее.

Самые талантливые писали валентинки в виде акростиха – это стихотворный размер, когда первые буквы каждой строфы составляют вместе осмысленное слово, в данном случае – имя возлюбленного.

You are welcome to our party, dedicated to St. Valentine’s Day, which is always held on February 14th and brings us happiness and good luck.

St. Valentine is one of the popular holidays in Europe, America and now in Russia.

It is the day, when boys and girls, sweethearts and lovers, husbands and wives, friends and neighbours exchange greetings of affection, love or satirical comment.

Do you know the history of this holiday? There are varying opinions as to the origin of Valentine’s Day. Some experts state that today’s celebration of this day grew out of a Roman feast of Lupercalia. Let’s leave for ancient Rome and look at the celebration of Lupercalia! (The pupils in ancient-roman costumes come in and dance showing the celebrating of Lupercalia )

In ancient Rome, February 14th was a holiday to honor Juno, Queen of the Roman gods and goddess. She ruled over marriage, so the holiday became one of love. The following day, February 15th, began the Feast of Lupercalia, the spring holiday. That day was devoted to love lotteries: young maidens wrote love messages, which were placed in a large box and then drawn out by unmarried men . (The pupils play love lottery and make couples)

One of the legends says that the holiday became Valentine’s Day after a priest named Valentine. (A pupil in a of Christian priest enters and passes to the decorations of Christian church. The pupils-actors on the stage bend to him)

He was a priest in Rome at the time Christianity was a new religion. The Emperor at that time, Claudius II, ordered the Roman soldiers NOT to marry. Claudius believed that as married men, his soldiers would want to stay home with their families rather than fight his wars. Valentine defied the Emperor’s decree and secretly married the young people in love. He was arrested and imprisoned. (The priest and a young couple act out the wedding ceremony. The soldiers with swords run in, arrest the priest and take him away to the decorations of a prison on the stage. )

There is a legend that says while waiting his execution, he befriended his jailer’s blind daughter whose sight he restored to her. On the eve of his death, Valentine wrote a farewell message to the jailer’s daughter and signed it, “From your Valentine”. (Two girls come to the window of the prison, give a jar of water to the priest and take Valentine’s message. One of them “reads” the message. )

He was beheaded on February 14th, the eve of the holiday Lupercalia. After his death, Valentine was named a saint. As Rome became more Christian, the priests moved the spring holiday from the 15th of February to the 14th—Valentine’s Day. Now the holiday honored Saint Valentine instead of Juno and Lupercus.

HEART

A long time ago, people believed that all the emotions were found in the heart. In later years, they thought only the emotion of love was connected with the heart. The heart is still a symbol of love, and it is also a symbol of Valentine’s Day.

RED ROSE

The rose was the flower of Venus, the Roman goddess of love. Red is a color that stands for strong feelings. This is why the red rose is a flower of love.

LOVE KNOT

A love knot is a series of winding and interlacing loops with no beginning and no end. It is a symbol of endless love.

DOVES

Doves were thought to be favourite birds of Venus. The males and females both care for their babies. These birds are symbols of loyalty and love. They are also symbols of Valentine’s Day.

CUPID

Cupid is a son of Venus, goddess of love. He could cause people to fall in love by piercing them with one of his magic arrows.

Lovers who affectionally sign “XXX”s to Valentine cards and letters are usually unware that the custom goes back to the early Christian era, when a cross mark, or “X”, conveyed the force of a sworn oath. It also was the first letter of the Greek word for Christ, Xristos.

People kissed a cross to emphasize their compete sincerity in an accord, as a Bible was frequently kissed when an oath was sworn upon it.

It was this practice of kissing the “X” that led to its becoming a symbol of a kiss.

Teacher 1: Love! Happiness! Beauty! There are not so many days in a year when we pronounce these pleasant words. Today you have an excellent chance to plunge into the atmosphere of love and friendliness.

Teacher 2: Today you have an opportunity to show your individuality, to take part in games, to practice the use of some pleasant words and expressions on this special occasion. Happy St. Valentine’s Day!

He: Here’s a special valentine

       With lots of love for you

        Ladies and gentlemen! Good afternoon!

She: It’s lovely to meet you here, at St. Valentine’s party!

He: I hope that St. Valentine’s Day

       Will bring you lots of fun!

       I think you are extra-specially nice,

       And so does everyone!

She: You are just the nicest kind of boy

        So very grown-up, too.

        No wonder that this valentine

        Brings lots of love for you.

He: It’s here again, the day when boys and girls, sweethearts and lovers, husbands and wives, friends and neighbours, and even the office staffwill exchange greetings of affection, undying love or satirical comment.

She: St. Valentine’s Day, February the 14th, has been a customary day for choosing sweethearts and exchanging love-token from time immemorial. The method of choosing sweethearts on St. Valentine’s Day varied in different times and places. It could be a serious matter leading to marriage, or it could be a kind of a game. Countless generations of young people have acknowledged St. Valentine as the patron of lovers.

He:What kind of holiday is St. Valentine’s Day?

She: St. Valentine’s Day is a religious holiday, which is celebrated in Great Britain, in European countries and in the USA St. Valentine’s Day has roots in several legends.

He: One of the early symbols of love is Cupid, the Roman God of Love, who is represented as a young boy with a bow and arrows.

Teacher 1: As you see, today we have 6 bravest, most active and most creative people who agreed to participate in our wonderful game “Be My Valentine”. They will answer some questions, play games and finally choose their “Valentines”. There also will be some tasks for the audience. The most active spectators will have special heart-shaped cards. So the first task of the game for the participants is to introduce themselves.

Teacher 1. Thank you for your answers. The next part of our game will be home task. So, our participants are given time to get ready, and we shall play another game. You see a set of letters on the screen. Find the words describing personality. The first question you should answer with the help of words, “What person would you love?” Be attentive: there are some words with a negative meaning.

You are welcome to answer the second question, “What kind of person wouldn’t you love?”

Positive: attractive, active, responsible, honest, brave, clever, sociable.

Negative: rude, unsociable, boring wicked, lazy.

Teacher 1.Well done! And now our participants are ready with their home task. So let us watch their amazingperformances. Enjoy yourselves.
