Nicknames serve to describe the nature or geography of the state, its history, the way of life and the traditions of its people.

KANSAS Is situated in the central part of the USA, that is why one of its nicknames is the Central state .

Its second name is connected with climatic conditions. It’s The Sunshine State because Kansas is in the center of the cyclone zone of the USA.

MINNERSOTA Has two nicknames – The Bread and Butter State and The Wheat State .

DELAWARE Was the first state to ratify the Constitution that’s why it was nicknamed The First State .

WYOMING Was the first state to give women the right to vote, so it was nicknamed The Equality State .

ILLINOIS Where Abraham Lincoln began his political activity are very proud of this fact and they called their state The Land of Lincoln .
