Цели мероприятия:

Обучающая:

  • расширение лингвистического кругозора учащихся, приобретение знаний о Лондоне.
  • активизировать лексику по теме «Лондон».

Развивающая:

  • развитие языковых способностей  учащихся, умения самостоятельной работы, творческого мышления, готовности к коммуникации.

Воспитывающая:

  • прививать интерес к культуре, традициям, достопримечательностям англоязычных стран.
  • воспитывать умение работать группе.

Оборудование: эмблемы для каждой команде, песня “London bridge”, видеофрагмент «Лондон», презентация «Достопримечательности Лондона», раздаточный материал с заданиями, презентация “London quiz”.

                                                        Ход мероприятия.

P1: Good afternoon, dear friends! I am glad to see you. My name is Zukhra Fasakhutdinova. I am from the 11th form. Now I’d like to introduce my partner. Her name is Landysh.

Please Landysh, tell a few words about yourself.

P2: Good afternoon! I am a student of the 9th form. I’ve been learning English since I was in the second form; I believe it is impossible to imagine our life without knowledge of the English language. Am I right?

P1: Yes, you are quite right, Landysh. English is an international language.

P2: And now let’s start our game!

P1: Sure, let’s start! Today you are the participants of an unusual show which is called “London Quiz” (название ведущие говорят вместе)

 P1: Two teams will try to win in our competition. Please, the first team introduce yourselves…(представление первой команды:

The name of our team is “Forward”. Our motto is “Forward and forward, we’ll never stop”. – Вперед и вперед, мы никогда не остановимся.)

P2: The second team, are you ready to introduce yourselves? …(представление второй команды:

The name of our team is “The best”. Our motto is “Bright brains, quick legs, skillful hands. We are the best!” – Блестящие умы, быстрые ноги, умелые руки. Мы лучшие.)

P1: And now, dear friends, let me introduce the members of our jury. (представление членов жюри) They are Ilvira Djaudatovna and Ramilya ……., students from Arsk Teacher Training College.

P2: Zukhra, what do you think about the sights of London?

P1: There are a lot of places of interest in London. Let’s begin from “London bridge.” ( Участники команд исполняют песню “London bridge.”)

P2. Samuel Johnson said: “When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford”. Today, more than 200 years later, Johnson’s words still ring true. There are few places that offer such a variety of sights, entertainments, educational and business opportunities, world famous museums and theaters. Friends, now let’s watch a video fragment about this wonderful city. ( Просмотр видеофрагмента)

P1: Our dear participants, can you tell us about the most famous sights of  London? (Участники команд по презентации рассказывают о достопримечательностях Лондона)

Par1: London is the capital of the United Kingdom. About 7 million people live there. London stands on the River Thames. There are 27 bridges over the Thames in London and 8 tunnels under the river.

Par2: The Houses of Parliament has got two houses- the House of Commons and the House of Lords. The building is famous for its clock Big Ben. You can listen to the debates there. From the Houses of Parliament you can walk up Whitehall and turn to Downing Street where the British Prime Minister lives at Number 10.

Par3:  Trafalgar square is in the centre of London. The monument to Admiral Nelson is situated in the centre of the square. There are two wonderful fountains in the square. In front of them there is the National Gallery.

Par4: St Paul’s Cathedral is the greatest of British churches. It was built in the 17th century by Sir Christopher Wren. Whispering Gallery is situated there.

Par5: Buckingham Palace is the Queen’s home place. Queen Victoria Memorial is in front of it.

Par6: The Tower of London. William the Conqueror built the White Tower in the 11th century to live in it. Later the Tower was a fortress, a palace, a prison and the King’s Zoo. The Crown Jewels are kept at the Tower now.

Par7: Hyde Park. It has got a lake in the middle. Mothers often take the children for walks and feed the birds. On Sundays you can listen to the speakers at Speaker’s Corner.

Par8: Oxford Street. Tourists walk along the street which is famous for the shops and cafes. They buy souvenirs, maps, pictures for their friends.

P2: Thank you for telling us what is worth seeing in the capital of Britain.
