BEFORE LISTENING

Activity 2

● In pairs, look at Activity 1 and match the words and definitions. Check the answers with the whole  class. Ask students what the song is about and what other words they expect to hear.

WHILE LISTENING

Activity 1

● Students listen and tick the words or expressions as they hear them. Students think again about their predictions. Listen to their ideas.

Activity 2

● Students individually read the text in Activity 2. In pairs they fill in the gaps using the words from Activity 1. Explain that they may need to change the form of the verb to gerund, future, etc. Students then listen and check their answers.

After Listening

 Students choose four or five other words from the song they don’t understand and work together to try to find out the meaning. They can ask each other and the teacher and use dictionaries. They should draw simple pictures to illustrate the definition of new words. In pairs, they test each other’s memory by pointing to illustration to see if their partner can remember the word.

 Ask the students to read through the song

        1.How many people is the song about?

        2.What is the relationship between the people in the song?

        3. What does the singer promise to do?

        4.What do you think his girl will write      him about?

        5.What do you think will happen next?

 Ask the students to write a letter to the singer from his girl, using their imagination.

 Suggest your students to compete in a poetical translation of the song. Then vote on the best one. Students can plan and make a video for the song.
