Volgograd is my native town.

Тип урока: урок обобщения знаний

Цели: 1. Расширить знания учащихся о своём городе.

            2. Развивать любознательность, языковую догадку.

            3. Формировать навыки говорения и аудирования.

            4. Воспитывать уважительное отношение к своему городу, к его героической истории.

1. познавательный аспект - знакомство с особенностями географического положения г. Волгограда; развитие умения извлекать информацию о культуре своего города.
2. развивающий аспект - развитие языковых способностей,  умения формулировать  выводы из услышанного, развитие внимания и умения слушать собеседника.
3. воспитательный аспект - воспитание чувства гордости за родную страну и место, где ты живёшь.
4. учебный аспект - развитие умения говорить на заданную тему, развитие умения аудировать с целью извлечения конкретной информации.

Задачи:

1. дать визуальное представление об истории города и достопримечательностях Волгограда;
2. развивать умение учащихся отвечать на вопросы;
3. формирование навыков говорения.

На уроке осуществляется развитие  общеучебных умений и навыков учащихся в соответствии с их возрастными особенностями, развитие способностей учащихся к продуктивной самостоятельной деятельности, закрепление умений и навыков монологического высказывания по заданной теме.

Оборудование: 1. учебное оборудование компьютерного класса;

                            2. экран;

                            3. мультимедийный проектор;

                            4. Тематические картинки по теме урока, стенд с работами учащихся по теме «Волгоград – мой родной город»

                            5. Музыкальное сопровождение перед началом и в конце урока.

Форма урока: защита проектов.

Подготовка: работа по группам (5 групп), подготовка материала на заданную тему.

But while visiting other cities don’t forget your native place. There is a proverb - East or West – Home is Best. Today we’ll have a talk about our native city – Volgograd.

Now it’s time to listen to your home task a project “Volgograd is my native town”. We work in 5 groups. Each group has its own topic. After this we shall do some tests to remember all the facts about Volgograd. Look at the blackboard. You can see a plan of our lesson:

1. The geographical situation.
2. The foundation of the city.
3. Volgograd during the Russian Revolution.
4. The Stalingrad Battle.
5. The reconstruction of the city.

         At the second part of our lesson we’ll have an excursion through our beautiful city and we’ll see its sightseeing.

1. Volgograd is one of the beautiful cities of our country. It is situated on the south-east part of Russia on the Volga River. Volgograd, an important industrial, commercial, and transshipment center of Russia, is a railroad center and a major Volga River port. The city runs 70 km along this river! It is very long city.
2. Volgograd was founded in 1589 as Tsaritsyn, a fortress on the southeastern frontier of Russia. It was taken by Cossack rebels twice: in 1670 by Stepan Razin and in 1774 by Yemelyan Pugachov. With the expansion of the Russian Empire in the 19th century, Tsaritsyn became an important port for products shipped down the Volga River.
3. Early in the Russian Revolution, in 1917, the city was taken by the Bolsheviks. During the civil war that followed it was occupied by White Russian troops for three months in 1919. In 1925 the city was renamed Stalingrad, for Joseph Stalin, who had been notable in the defense of the city against the White Russians.
4. Volgograd is the symbol of the heroism. During World War II, Stalingrad, a strategically located industrial center, was a vital German objective. A large German force mounted an assault on the city on August 20, 1942, after a period of heavy air raids. A successful Soviet counteroffensive began on November 19, and on February 2, 1943, the Sixth German Army surrendered, thus ending the German advance into the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR). For 200 days and nights the thunder of battle continued during the Great Patriotic War. The destiny of the country and of all humanity was decided in this region. The struggle was for every home, for every street. The city was ruined.      
5. Reconstruction of the city began immediately after the war. The city was renamed Volgograd in 1961.

Well, it’s time for our sightseeing tour.

1. Volgograd was famous in the Second World War. There is a place in Volgograd, which is closely connected with the events of this War and with the Great Stalingrad Battle – it is the glorified Mamayev Hill with its “memorial complex “To the Heroes of the Stalingrad Battle. Mamaev Hill is the symbol of Volgograd. This place keeps a memory of heroes who died defending our country.
2. The Pavlov's House is the actual apartment house right across the street from the Stalingrad battle museum. For 58 days and nights the invaders had been desperately storming the building by crashing down its wall with heavy tanks and setting it on fire in hope to smoke the Pavlov's group out from the basement and under roof space. After the war the house was repaired, only one facade was left ruined as it had been, for memory's sake. Now people are living in it.
3. There are a lot of beautiful places of interest and historical monuments in Volgograd. The most beautiful are the Square of Fallen Fighters and the Alley of Heroes. It is the centre of our city. This is the granite obelisk and the common graves to the heroes of the Civil War and those who fell in the Great Patriotic War. Here Volgograd pupils stand on guard at the common graves. It’s a tradition.
4. Volgograd is a cultural center. There are many theatres. Museums and cinemas in the city. The most famous are the Panorama of Stalingrad Battle, the Volgograd History museum, the Musical theatre, the Theatre of Young Spectators.
5. Volgograd is a city of working people. Today it is one of the biggest industrial centers of Russia. There is a Volga Hydro-Electric Power Station. It is the biggest in Europe.

       Volgograd is a student city. There are many universities, colleges and schools in the city such as Medical University, Volgograd State University, Polytechnic University, Pedagogical University and many others.
