Buckingham Palace is the Queen's official and main royal London home. It has been the official London residence of Britain's monarchy since 1837. When the Queen is at home , you can see her royal flag flying from the flag pole on top of Buckingham Palace. This flag is called the Royal Standard. When the first guards come on duty, there is a ceremony called the Changing of the Guard. The Queen's Guard changes in the Forecourt of Buckingham Palace at 11:30am daily from May to July. There is no Guard Mounting Ceremony in very wet weather. The Union Flag, popularly known as the *Union Jack, is the national flag of the United Kingdom. It is the British flag. It is called the Union Flag because it symbolises the administrative union of the countries of the United Kingdom. It is made up up of the individual Flags of three of the Kingdom's countries all united under one Sovereign - the countries of 'England, of 'Scotland' and of 'Northern Ireland‘. As Wales was not a Kingdom but a Principality it could not be included on the flag.
The Tower of London is one of the most imposing and popular of London's historical sites. Tower of London was the city's fortress for centuries, a royal palace, a prison. Now there are the Crown Jewels of England and a museum. The Raven Master is the person who gives them food. Ravens According to tradition, there must be at least six ravens in residence at the Tower at all times. The legend says that without them the Tower, the monarchy and the kingdom will fall. Westminster Abbey is more a historical site than a religious site. Since 1066 every royal coronation, with the exception of Edward V and Edward VIII has taken place in Westminster Abbey. Saint Paul's Cathedral is masterpiece of Sir Christopher Wren and one of the finest church designs of the English baroque.
Big Ben is one of the most famous clock tower in the world. It is situated of the river Thames and is part of the Palace of Westminster. London Zoo is one of Britain's top attractions and is the world's oldest scientific zoo founded over 180 years ago. It can be found in the heart of London, in Regent's Park. Hyde Park is one of the largest parks in central London, United Kingdom, and one of the Royal Parks of London, famous for its Speakers' Corner. A Speakers' Corner is an area where open-air public speaking, debate and discussion are allowed. Speakers there may speak on any subject, as long as the police consider their speeches lawful. Piccadilly Circus is a busy square in the heart of London. It is famous for the fountain that was installed here at the end of the 19th century. Piccadilly Circus is a meeting point of six streets. Trafalgar Square is a public space and tourist attraction in central London. In the middle of the square there is a tall column, a monument honoring admiral Nelson.
The British Parliament is the oldest in the world. The British Parliament seats in the Houses of Parliament. 10 Downing Street is the residence and office of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, and the headquarters of the British Government. Downing Street is a short street located in the City of Westminster, in London, England. In fact, 10 Downing Street refers to the official residence of the First Lord of the Treasury, but in modern times this particular position has always been assumed simultaneously by the Prime Minister, hence it was regarded as the Prime Minister's residence. The British people today are ruled by Parliament, not by monarchs. A party with more than half the seats (a majority) forms the government; the leader of the party becomes the Prime Minister, who then appoints other ministers.
