Halloween Halloween is a nice holiday for children in England and America in autumn. They celebrate this holiday on the 31 st of October. On this day boys and girls put on old and funny clothes. They dress up as witches and ghosts. People make lanterns out of pumpkins and put them on the windowsills. They cut eyes, noses and mouths out the pumpkins. Then they put candles into them and the candlelight is seen through the eyes, a nose and a mouth. It looks like a face. Children go from house to house and knock at the doors. They say, “Trick or treat”. People give them sweets, fruit, cakes and many other tasty things. Ex.7

December 31st is New Year’s Eve. People like this holyday very much. They have a lot of fun on this day. Grown-ups don’t work and children don’t go to school on this day. People usually cook a lot of tasty things for this holiday. They bring in big green Christmas trees. They decorate them with lots of toys and lights of all colours. At half past eleven people sit down at a holiday table. They give presents to each other and say, “Happy New Year! Many happy returns of the day!” After that they begin to drink and eat various delicious things.
