Lesson plan "Мy Holidays"
Main aim: - At the end of the lesson students will be able to say He/She is wearing.......
Subsidiary aims: - Repeat TL from a previous lesson
- Practise to describe somebody's cloth.
- Practise students' reading skills
I. Warm -up: (5 mins) (S-SS, T-SS)
Aim: to review vocabulary from previous lesson.
I ask my students one by one come to the board and mime weather words: It's hot. It's sunny. It's raining. Other students need to guess the words. I write the words on the board.
Then , I draw clothes on the board and ask students to guess them.
Finally, I say sentences like: "It's sunny, put on your hat" or "It's hot, take off your jacket". Also, I say the same sentences with raining. The students need to mime what I said.
II. Presenting grammar structures (15 mins) (T-SS)
Aim: to present the students:I am wearing/ He(she) is wearing.
First, I am standing in front of the class. I point to my shoes and say I am wearing black shoes. Then, I point to my trousers and say I am wearing grey trousers. Finally, i point to my blouse and say I am wearing a black blouse. To check the students understanding I ask them to say in L1 what I said.
Then, I am pointing to one of the girls in my class and say she is wearing black shoes. Then, I point to a boy and continue he is wearing black jeans.
Finally, I continue pointing to one of the boys' or girls' clothe and ask students to say he/ she is wearing .......
III. Practicing vocabulary. (3 mins) (S, SS-T)
Aim: to practise using He/she is wearing...
Ex 1 p.100
I ask my students to read the sentences and find the correct pictures.
IV. Practising grammar: (5 mins) (SS-T)
Aim: practising to use grammar structure in the sentences
Ex 2 p.100
I read the sentences and students finish them by saying the words.
V. Reading (7 mins)
Aim: to practise to read texts
First, I read the text and ask the students to follow with their fingers in case to be familiar with how to read unknown words.
Then I read it again and mime the words for students' understanding.
After that , I ask the students to read the text with me and mime the words.
Finally, students read and mime the words themselves.
VI. Speaking:
Aim: Giving students a chance to use grammar structure more independently.
I ask the students one by one make sentences about their partner. For example: He is wearing black trousers. She is wearing white shoes. etc . I help my students with some clothes vocabulary that they don't know. For example they asked me how to say skirt or sweater in English. I focus in this activity only on "he is wearing" or "she is wearing". They need to use them properly with boys and with girls.
In my lesson I use realia and TPR because they are really useful with Young Learners. Real objects help students to undertsand the meaning of words or sentences. They also help me to speak more in English and be sure that students undertsand me. TPR helps the students to move and have fun.
