Read and understand the text To the North-West of the continent of Europe there lie two big islands, called The British Isles . One of these islands consists of England, Scotland and Walls . The smaller one is Ireland. The Northern Sea separates England from Germany and Scandinavian countries, while The English Channel separated England from France and Belgium. There are many rivers in Britain, but none of them are very long. The Thames , and the Severn are the longers rivers. Many rivers have been joint by the channels. So, it is possible to travel to any part of the country by water. The climate of Great Britain is mild. It is not too hot in summer or too cold in winter. It often rains in England. The U.K. is the parliamentary monarchy. The British Parliament consist of two Houses: the House of the Lords and the House of the Commons . The Prime Minister is the head of the government. The largest city of the country are London, Birmingham, Cardiff, Manchester, Glasgow, Belfast, Dublin.
