Урок английского языка "Reading?! Why not?"

Категория слушателей: 9 класс.

Цели:

Образовательные:

• формировать коммуникативную, лингвистическую, лингвострановедческую, общеучебную компетенции.

Воспитательные:

• прививать любовь к книге, поэзии и потребность в чтении;
• воспитывать чувство прекрасного;
• воспитывать уважительное отношение к другим народам и их культуре;
• воспитывать уважительное отношение к окружающим нас людям, развивать общечеловеческую культуру;
• укреплять любовь к предмету, развивать интерес к изучению английского языка.

Развивающие:

• развивать навыки восприятия речи на слух;
• развивать навыки чтения и монологической речи;
• расширять мировоззрение, внимание, логическое мышление;
• тренировать объем и увеличивать качество памяти.

Задачи:

Образовательные:

• подвести итог знаниям, умениям и навыкам учащихся в рамках изученной темы;
• актуализировать изученный материал по теме;
• активизировать навыки аудирования, монологической и диалогической речи в рамках изученного материала;
• обеспечить активную деятельность каждого ученика в течение всего урока.

Развивающие:

• развивать догадку, воображение;
• развивать способность осуществлять речевые продуктивные действия;
• развивать умение партнёрского общения и умения работать в группе;

Воспитательные:

• привитие любви к чтению;
• приобщение учащихся к шедеврам мировой культуры.

Методическое обеспечение урока: проектор, компьютер, раздаточный материал, презентации творческих работ в программе Power Point.

ХОД УРОКА

1. Начало урока

1. Организационный момент. Сообщение темы и цели урока.

-What is the topic of the Unit we have learned during this term? The topic of it was «Reading, why not». Today we have our last lesson on this topic. So it will be a bit unusual, because it’ll be a demonsrative one.

-You know that books play a very important role in our lives. An educated person is a person who reads a lot, enriches his vocabulary and expands his outlook.

2. Основной этап урока

1) There are a lot of proverbs about books. Here are some of them.  Read them and translate please.

 1) Reading makes a full man.

                                         (Francis Bacon)

 2) Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body.

                                        (Richard Steele)

 3) It’s a good idea to read books in English. You can read at home, in bed, on the train, anywhere.

Весь класс делится на 4 команды.

Now we need 4 groups. Please, take your seats.

The 1st task will be:

1) Match the pictures with the names.

(1-c,  2b,  3-e,  4-d,  5-a )

2) Match the names of the authors with their works.

(1-b,  2-d,  3-a,  4-c  )

Now, let’s listen to the girls. They will tell us about one of the famous English writers. (Robert Burns)

3) Read the text and answer the questions. (Let’s have a guessing game. Read the beginnings of different kinds of stories and try to guess what story it is, and why you think so.)

1) horror story

 2) science fiction

 3) true story

 4) detective story

 5) fairy tale.

4) «A poet so pure and so Russian». Match the columns, please.

5) Give your own definition for the following types of books.

a) It is extremely useful in our work; it gives information about every branch of knowledge. The articles in it are arranged in alphabetical order.

 (Encyclopedia)

b) It shows the order in which the topics in the book are discussed; it gives the title of each chapter and the page on which it begins.

 (Table of contents)

c) A learner of a foreign language use it to find the meaning of a word he doesn't know and find out how to pronounce it, spell it and also how it is used.

 (Dictionary)

d) These books contain made-up stories.

 (Fiction books)

Now, listen to Ann. And her translation of  William Shakespeare’s work.

6) Jane Eyre .

You know, Bronte’s novels are autobiographical, life of Jane was rather hard and it was similar to Bronte’s. Today we have a chance to see how Jane’s life started.(film,dialogue,task)

Mrs. Reed and Jane are in the room in front of a fireplace. Mr. Brocklehurst is entering the room.

Mrs. Reed: This is the little girl I spoke to you about.

Mr. Brocklehurst: She is small. How old is she?

Mrs. Reed: Ten years.

Mr. Brocklehurst: So small? Your name, little girl?

Jane: Jane Eyre, sir.

Mr. Brocklehurst: Well, Jane Eyre, and are you a good girl?

Mrs. Reed: It is better to say nothing about it, Mr. Brocklehurst.

Mr. Brocklehurst: That’s too bad. I must talk to her. Come here, Jane Eyre. Do you read the

Bible?

Jane: Sometimes.

Mr. Brocklehurst: Is it interesting?

Jane: No, sir.

Mr. Brocklehurst: This shows that you are a bad girl.

Mrs. Reed: Mr. Brocklehurst, I think I told you that she is not a good child. If you

take her to Lowood School, tell the teachers what kind of girl she is.

Mr. Brocklehurst: I’ll speak to the teachers.

Mrs. Reed: She will stay at the school during her holidays, it will be best for her.

Mr. Brocklehurst: You are right.

Mrs. Reed: So, I may be sure that you will receive her at your school. I shall send the girl very soon.

Mr. Brocklehurst: Very well, I’ll write to the teacher and tell her that she will have a new girl.

Mrs. Reed:Good-bye, Mr. Brocklehurst!

Jane: I am happy that you are not my aunt. I’ll never call you aunt again as long as I live. I’ll never come to see you when I am grown up; and if anyone asks me how I liked you I’ll say that you are a bad woman.

Questions

1. How old is she?
2. What did she said about the Bible?

3. Mr. Brocklehurst’s impression about the  girl.

III. Подведение итогов, рефлексия.

Summing up. I want to finish our lesson with the words of Charles Kingsley “Except a living man, there is nothing more wonderful than a book”.

I hope you understand that without books our life will be empty and boring. Read good books, enjoy them and think.
