PARTICIPLE 1 \ 2 (10 cl) ADDITIONAL

Причастие — это особая форма глагола, которая может выполнять функции, как глагола, так и прилагательного. В английском языке существуют две основные формы причастий: причастие настоящего времени (present participle), оканчивающееся на -ing (например, reading, writing), и причастие прошедшего времени (past participle), часто оканчивающееся на -ed для регулярных глаголов (например, baked, finished). Эти формы используются для создания различных времен глагола, но также и для образования прилагательных и для участия в сложных синтаксических конструкциях. Цель следующих упражнений — помочь вам на практике освоить использование причастий в английском языке. 

 Упражнение 1.  Переведите следующие предложения на русский язык, обращая внимание на причастия: 

1. Не heard the voices coming through the open window. 2. Waiting for him I looked through the magazines lying on the table. 3. They remained at home refusing to go anywhere that day. 4. The channel linking the two seas is being built now. 5. The explanation given was not complete. 6. The new materials recommended for bridge construction were described in the article written by our professor. 7. Тhе results received were of great importance for further work. 8. А balsa tree found in South America is lighter than any other. 9. Having passed all the examinations he left for his native town. 10. Having been shown the way I could find his house easily. 11. Having waited for him for half an hour they went home. 12. Having obtained the necessary results they stopped their experimental work. 13. When studying elements Mendeleyev found that they could be divided into nine groups. 14. When writing а telegram we must use as few words as possible. 15. When burnt, coal produces heat. 16. When reconstructed, the theatre looked more beautiful than before. 17. Being built in а new way modern houses have better facilities.

Упражнение 2.  Раскройте скобки, употребляя нужную форму причастия

1. Who is that boy (doing, done) his homework at that table.
2. The exercises (doing, done) by the pupils were easy.
3. The house (surrounding, surrounded) by tall trees is very beautiful.
4. The wall (surrounding; surrounded) the house was very high.
5. Read the (translating, translated) sentences once more.
6. Name some places (visiting, visited) by you last year.
7. We listened to the girls (singing, sung) folk songs.
8. We listened to the folk songs (singing, sung) by the girls.
9. The girl (washing, washed) the floor is my sister.
10. The floor (washing, washed) by Ann looked very clean.
11. Who is the boy (doing, done) his homework at the table?
12. The exercises (doing, done) by the students were easy.
13. The girl (writing, written) on the blackboard is our best pupil.
14. Everything (writing, written) here is quite right. 

Упражнение 3. Раскройте скобки, употребляя глаголы в Present Participle 

или Perfect Participle

1. (to talk) to her neighbour in the street, she did not notice her friend.

2. (to read) the story, she closed the book and put it on the shells.

 3. (to buy) some juice and cakes, we went home.

 4. (to sit) near the fire, he felt very warm.

 5. (to do) his homework, he was thinking hard.

8. (to look) through some magazines, I came across an interesting article.

Упражнение 4.Раскройте скобки, употребив причастие настоящего времени в активной и пассивной форме.

1. (To impress) by the film, they kept silent.
2. (To lose) the book, the student couldn’t remember the topic.
3. He spent the whole day (to read) a book.
4. (To travel) around America for a month, she returned to England.
5. He watched Mike (to go) out of the door and (to cross) the street.
6. The question (to discuss) now is very important.
7. (To pack) in the beautiful box the flowers looked very lovely.
8. (To descent) the mountains, they heard a man calling for help.
9. (To reject) by everybody he became a monk.
10. (To show) the wrong direction, the travelers soon lost their way.

Упражнение 5  Раскройте скобки ,употребив Indefinite или Perfect Participle 

1. (To write) out all the words, I started to learn them.

Упражнение  6  Раскройте скобки, употребив причастие прошедшего времени. Переведите.

4. He didn’t see the things (to keep) in her box.
5. I don’t like the video (to buy) yesterday.

Упражнение 7. Образуйте правильную форму причастия Participle I или 

Participle II от глаголов в скобках.

Упражнение 9 Замените придаточные предложения причастными оборотами

The old castle, which was built five hundred years ago, belongs to the university. Старый замок, который был построен 500 лет назад, принадлежит университету.

= The old castle built five hundreds ago belongs to the university. Старый замок, построенный 500 лет назад, принадлежит университету.

1. The holidaymakers who were wearing light clothes walked along the beach.
2. The lands that were discovered by Columbus were rich in gold.
3. The children who were excited by the news shouted “Hoorah” three times.
4. The hedges that divided the fields were getting yellow.
5. The young lady who was standing at the door looked very attractive.
6. The two banks which were connected by a bridge were high and looked dangerous.
7. Betty Smith heard the noise of a child who was crying.
8. He entered the yard and smelt something that was burning.

Упражнение 10  Замените придаточные предложения причастными оборотами

1. While we were crossing the bridge, we saw Charles, who was talking with an old man. 2. As we were very tired, we refused to go for a walk. 3. As the boys had climbed the mountains the summer before, they understood the difficulties. 4. A large branch, which had been broken by the wind, lay across the road. 5. At a conference of the Academy of Sciences, which is now being held in St.Petersburg, a number of important scientific problems are being discussed. 6. When he crossed the bridge, he saw a small village, which was situated at the foot of a hill. 7. I’ll show you the article which has been written by my father. 8. As he had been taught French by a good teacher, he knew the language well. 9. The moon was invisible as it was hidden by a cloud. 10. As they had been warned that the river was rising rapidly, they turned back.

Сообщите нам, когда вы намерены поставить заказанные товары. 5. В этом кабинете есть несколько сломанных компьютеров. 6. К сожалению, предложенный товар не удовлетворяет нашим требованиям. 7. Он показал нам фотографию здания музея. 8. Разбитый стакан лежал на столе. 9. Все полученные товары были немедленно отравлены на склад. 10. Платеж за поставленные машины будет произведен в июне. 11.0н принес мне несколько иллюстрированных журналов. 12. Мы послали каталоги по указанному адресу. 13. Его неожиданный ответ удивил нас всех. 14. В настоящее время мы имеем очень ограниченное количество этих деталей на складе.
