“The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland”

Цель урока: расширить объем знаний о стране изучаемого языка

Задачи урока: способствовать развитию навыков критического мышления, чтения, продуктивного письма, умения структурировать основное содержание текста, формировать умение работать в группе, воспитывать толерантное отношение учащихся друг к другу и жителям страны изучаемого языка.

Планируемые результаты:

Личностные: формирование мотивации к изучению английского языка, формирование коммуникативной компетенции;

Метапредметные: умение организовывать учебное сотрудничество и совместную деятельность с учителем и сверстниками;

Предметные:

Ученик научится: извлекать нужную информацию из прочитанного текста, задавать вопросы по теме и отвечать на них, рассказывать о стране изучаемого языка;

Ученик получит возможность научиться: писать фактическую справку (факт-лист) о стране.

Формы работы: индивидуальная, фронтальная, парная, групповая.

Оборудование: компьютер, проектор.

Используемая технология: проблемного обучения, элементы технологии развития критического мышления, проектного обучения.

Ход урока

1. Организационный момент

Teacher: Good morning, children! I’m glad to see you! Sit down, please! How are you today?  

2. Целеполагание и мотивация учебной деятельности

Teacher: Look at the picture, please (флаг Соединённого Королевства и изображение страны на карте) and guess the topic of our lesson.

Students: It is the United Kingdom (Great Britain, England).

Teacher: Very well. Some people call this country the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland or the United Kingdom, the UK.  The others name it Great Britain or England. Why? Is it one country or different countries?

Ученики высказывают своё мнение.

Teacher: What is the aim of our lesson?

Students: The aim of our lesson is to learn more about the United Kingdom.

Teacher: You are right. Open your copybooks, write down the date and the topic of our lesson-“The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland”.

3. Актуализация знаний

Teacher: Right you are! What words come to your mind when you think about the United Kingdom? Let’s make a word web.

Ученики приводят примеры слов.

Teacher: What do you know about…(учитель задаёт вопросы по словам из кластера).

What can you say about the flag of the United Kingdom?

4. Изучение нового учебного материала

Teacher: Open your textbooks at page 11. Look at the ex.1. What colours are the flags below? How are they related to the map and the flag of the United Kingdom?

Ученики отвечают на вопросы.

Teacher: Well done. Read the title of the text. What do you think the text is about?

Students: It's about the United Kingdom.

Teacher: Let’s listen and check.

Ученики читают текст в сопровождении аудиозаписи и проверяют свои ответы.

Teacher: What kind of text is it? Is it a story, a letter or a factfile?

 Учитель объясняет значение слова factfile.

A factfile is a short report of all the most important information on one subject.

Students: It's a factfile.

Teacher: Right. Work in pairs. Match the words in bold to the definitions. Write down them. Translate. Then read the words.

Teacher: Which flag does the text describe?

Students: The flag of the United Kingdom (the Union Jack).

Teacher: What flags does the Union Jack include?

Students: It includes the flags of England, Scotland, the old flag of Ireland.

Teacher: What is the fourth part of the UK?

Students: It’s Wales.

Teacher: Now divide into 4 groups, please. Imagine that you are the inhabitants of these parts.

 (English, Scots/Scottish, Welsh, Irish).

You have to present us your countries. Write down the information about capitals, big cities, flags, population. You may use the text and the map.

Ученики в группах, используя текст и карту Соединённого Королевства, готовят сообщения об Англии, Шотландии, Уэльсе, Северной Ирландии.

Teacher: Are you tired? Let’s have a little rest.

6. Закрепление нового учебного материала

Teacher: Are you ready to introduce your countries? Who wants to be the first? Come here please, let’s start.

7. Контроль усвоения нового учебного материала

Teacher: I see that you’ve understood the topic very well. Please, complete the sentences.

1. The flag of the United Kingdom is called  ... (the Union Jack).

2. The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is usually shortened to the United  Kingdom or………(the UK).

3. England is a….. of the UK (part).

4. Great Britain is….. of Great Britain which contains England, Wales, and Scotland (the island).

8. Рефлексия

Teacher: Well. Can you say now what is the difference between the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Great Britain and England?

Ученики отвечают.

Teacher: What new information have you learned today? What was the most interesting? What was the most difficult?

9. Домашнее задание, подведение итогов

Teacher: Well. You’ve worked very hard today.

Teacher: Your hometask will be to make a project (a factfile about your country).

Teacher: Our lesson is over. I think it was useful for you. Good bye.
