Objectives:

• to develop reading speaking skills through listening;
• to get to know about the country, the capitals of the part of Great Britain;
• -to get acquainted with the flags of The United Kingdom of Great Britain.
• Equipment: textbook, blackboard, pictures

Procedure

2. WARMING- UP 

T: What do you know about Britain?

What would you like to know?

T:  Have a look! I have a statement on the blackboard. “ An Englishman`s home is his castle”. Let`s discuss

T: I`ve chosen such proverb to underline one thing which we are going to talk about. Help me! What`s this?

Possible answers ( home, people, Britain, character of British)

T: That`s absolutely right! Our topic is “ The United Kingdom of Great Britain”  I would like to know your ideas about the parts of the country.

3. MAIN PART OF THE LESSON

        Work with the tongue twister using different techniques (Slow Down, Boost-Up, reading in pairs).

Listening

Ex 1b) p. 11

Pupils listen to the text and check the answers. ( Which flags does the text describe?)

        Here you have met new unknown words in the text. They`re in bold in the text. So, I`d like to play with you a game, which is called: “ Match the words and Be the first”

       The game is played in groups. The cards of two types are distributed between the three (four) groups of pupils. On the cards of the first type the words are written on the cards of the second – type-definitions of these words. Pupils` task is to match the words with their definitions.

        The group which the first would have been done with this task (and do it in the right way) is going to be the winner.

         T: OK. Now, it`s your turn to speak:

1. Sat three things you remember from the text.
2. Try to retell the text using graphic organizers
