по английскому языку

Цели:

- воспитание уважительного отношения к стране изучаемого языка;

- расширение кругозора;

- стимулирование интереса учащихся к изучению английского языка.

Задачи:

  1. развивать знания учащихся о культуре (достопримечательностях, знаменитых людях, политическом и экономическом положении) Великобритании и англоговорящих стран;
  2. вырабатывать умения и навыки диалогической и монологической речи, совершенствовать навыки правильного написания английской лексики;
  3. воспитывать интерес к изучению английского языка, к культуре Великобритании;
  4. воспитывать чувство солидарности между учащимися;

Оборудование: карта страны; иллюстрации по теме «Великобритания»; компьютерная презентация.

Ход мероприятия

  1. Организационный момент.

Teacher:  Good morning, boys and girls and our guests! I’m very glad to see you at our game!

Today we’ll have an unusual lesson –the competition “Do you know Great Britain?”  The competition consists of several tasks.

Thank you, and now I want you to know more about our teams. They will show us their knowledge of English language, English history, English famous people,   English customs and traditions. Today you will know many interesting things. The winner will be the best. Good luck to you!

  1. Teacher: The first task is to present your teams (name, motor, emblem).
  2. Teacher:  The second task is to gather the map together. Let us try (учащиеся  собирают карту из 6 частей). Who is the fastest?
  3. Teacher:  Dear friends, what do you know about Great Britain? The task is to answer the questions about Great Britain. If your answer is correct the team will get one point. If your answer is wrong the second team will be allowed to give the answer. After listening to the question the members of the team can consult with each other for 30 sec.

  1. Dublin;  b. Cardiff; c. Belfast.

3. The British flag is often called…

a. the Union Jack; b. the Stars and Stripes; c. the Maple Leaf.

  1. Thames; b. London; c. Avon.

5. What colour are the buses in London?

  1. red; b. blue;  c.black.

6. What is the home of the Queen?

  1. Buckingham Palace; b. the  White House; c. Westminster Abbey.

7. Ben Nevis is…

 a. a famous footballer;  b. a sort of whiskey;  c. a mountain.

8.The most popular sport in Britain is…

a.        ice hockey; b.  baseball; c.  football.

9. Britain's national drink is…

a.  Tea; b.  Coca-Cola; c.  Coffee.

10. The mysterious Loch Ness  Monster is from…

a. Wales; b. Ireland; c. Scotland.

11. The Beatles started their career in…

a. Liverpool; b. London; c.  Birmingham.

12.The kilt is…

  1. a pair of trousers; b. a shirt;   c. a skirt;

    (Two large  islands Great Britain and Ireland and many smaller ones)

2. What is the anthem of the country?     (“God Save the Queen”)

3. What is the official name of Great Britain?

    (The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (the UK))

4. What is the UK bounded by?

    (The Atlantic Ocean, the North Sea, the Irish Sea and the English Channel)

5. How many parts does Great Britain consist of? What are they?

    (Three parts. England Scotland and Wales)

6. What is the capital of Wales?     (Cardiff)

7. What is the longest river in Great Britain?       (The Severn)

8. What is the flower symbol of Wales?       (The daffodil)

9. What is the flower symbol of England?     (The rose)

10.  What is the flower symbol of  Scotland?    

11. What is the flower symbol of  Ireland?

12. How many parts does London consist of? What are they?

      (Four parts. The City, the East End, the West End and Westminster)

13. What is a famous stadium in England where football matches take place?

     (Wambley)

14. What is a popular name of the London Underground?      (Tube)

15.  How many bridges are there over the Thames in London?  (27)

  1. What London sights would you like to see? Find some of them in the table.
