Внеклассное мероприятие по английскому языку                              "Великобритания"

Цели и задачи:

развитие и повышение интереса к предмету;

повторение и закрепление ранее изученной лексики;

развитие навыков устной речи и аудирования;

развитие познавательных интересов учащихся;

обобщить знания учащихся о культуре страны изучаемого языка.

Ход урока

Teacher: Good morning, boys and girls and our guests! I’m very glad to see you at our game!

Today we’ll have an unusual lesson –the competition “Who will be the best”. I want you to greet all of them with your applause!

Thank you, and now I want you to know more about our teams. Let introduce with our teams. The competition consists of several tasks. The 1st task is to answer the questions about Great Britain. If your answer is correct the team will get one point. If your answer is wrong the second team will be allowed to give the answer. After listening to the question the members of the team can consult with each other for 30 sec.

Teacher: The next task is to retell about places of interest. Great Britain is a big country, which has a lot of different places of interest. It is a famous for its monuments, well known building and other sights. Your task is to explain the meaning of the word written on the card in English. Each team must take 2 cards.

Ответы учащихся:

 Buckingham Palace, London residence of the British sovereign, takes its name from the house built early in the 18th century for the dukes of Backingham. Queen Victoria was the first sovereign to live there. The Royal standard is flown and the ceremony of changing of the guard takes place daily when the sovereign is in residence.

The Houses of Parliament is a beautiful building with two towers and a very big clock called Big Ben.

Westminster Abbey is a very beautiful church built over 900 years ago. The tombs of many great statesmen, scientists and writers are in the Abbey.

 The city’s greatest monument, St.Paul’s Cathedral was built by Sir Christopher Wren between 1675 and 1710 to replace the old Cathedral that was largely destroyed in the Great Fire of 1666.

Christopher Wren is buried there. Among the many memorials to famous men within the Cathedral are the tombs of Wellington, victor of Waterloo, and Nelson, hero of Trafalgar.

Teacher: There are some difference between British English and American English. Write british equivalents of the words.
