To be or not to be
To be, or not to be: that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
And by opposing end them? To die: to sleep;
No more; and by a sleep to say we end
The heart-ache and the thousand natural shocks
That flesh is heir to, 'tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wish'd. To die, to sleep;
To sleep: perchance to dream: ay, there's the rub;
For in that sleep of death what dreams may come
When we have shuffled off this mortal coil,
Must give us pause: there's the respect
That makes calamity of so long life;
For who would bear the whips and scorns of time,
The oppressor's wrong, the proud man's contumely,
The pangs of despised love, the law's delay,
The insolence of office and the spurns
That patient merit of the unworthy takes,
When he himself might his quietus make
With a bare bodkin? who would fardels bear,
To grunt and sweat under a weary life,
But that the dread of something after death,
The undiscover'd country from whose bourn
No traveller returns, puzzles the will
And makes us rather bear those ills we have
Than fly to others that we know not of?
Thus conscience does make cowards of us all;
And thus the native hue of resolution
Is sicklied o'er with the pale cast of thought,
And enterprises of great pith and moment
With this regard their currents turn away,
And lose the name of action.
нельзя не жаждать. Умереть, уснуть;
Вот почему напасти так живучи;

7p.-Many critics say, that Shakespeare,s greatest tragedies represent the peak of his art.
Shakespeare wrote his tragedies from the beginning of his career.
His main tragedies are: Hamlet. Prince of Denmark, Macbeth, King Lear, Othello, Romeo and Juliet, Julius Caesar, Antony and Cleopatra.
8p –The history of Hamlet is tragical .Hamlet was prince of Denmark .He exacts his uncle Cladius for murdering his father. Hamlet resolved to see the Ghost that looks like the dead king. The ghost has told him the truth about his mother,s treason and his uncle. At the end Hamlet stabs Claudius with the poisoned sword.
9p-Othello is the tragedy of the Moor of Vehice, based on the Italian short story. It is about secret marriage between Desdemona and Othello, a Moorish general in the Venecian army .He loved Desdemona and asked her father for her hand in marriage. Iago was a high-ranking soldier and hated Othello. He knew about Desdemona,s elopement and told Desdemona,s father about it. The end of this tragedy is very sad .Othello strangled Desdemona.
10p- King Lear is a tragedy about king who wants to retire from power.. He decides to divide his realm between 3 daughters. He offers the largest share to the one, who loves him best. His two daughters proclaim that they love him more then anything in the world. The third daughter Cordelia speaks about her love honestly but bluntly, which infuriates him. At the end of the tragedy Goneril and Regan decleared that their love was fake and they view Lear as an old ,foolish man .Only Cordelia helps her father.
1p-Romeo and Juliet is a tragedy about two young lovers. It was the most popular play during Shakespeare,s lifetime. It has been praised as an early sigh his dramatic skill.
It was written early in the career of Shakespeare.
Romeo and Juliet staged numerous times as film and opera. In his tragedy Shakespeare shows the enmity of two families. Only the death of two young lovers put the end of their enmity. «For never was the story woe than this of Juliet and Romeo»
. ROMEO
She speaks:
O, speak again, bright angel! for thou art
As glorious to this night, being o'er my head
As is a winged messenger of heaven
Unto the white-upturned wondering eyes
Of mortals that fall back to gaze on him
When he bestrides the lazy-pacing clouds
And sails upon the bosom of the air.
JULIET
O Romeo, Romeo! wherefore art thou Romeo?
Deny thy father and refuse thy name;
Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love,
And I'll no longer be a Capulet.
ROMEO
[Aside] Shall I hear more, or shall I speak at this?
JULIET
'Tis but thy name that is my enemy;
Thou art thyself, though not a Montague.
What's Montague? it is nor hand, nor foot,
Nor arm, nor face, nor any other part
Belonging to a man. O, be some other name!
What's in a name? that which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet;
So Romeo would, were he not Romeo call'd,
Retain that dear perfection which he owes
Without that title. Romeo, doff thy name,
And for that name which is no part of thee
Take all myself.
ROMEO
I take thee at thy word:
Call me but love, and I'll be new baptized;
Henceforth I never will be Romeo.
JULIET
What man art thou that thus bescreen'd in night
So stumblest on my counsel?
ROMEO
By a name
I know not how to tell thee who I am:
My name, dear saint, is hateful to myself,
Because it is an enemy to thee;
Had I it written, I would tear the word.
JULIET
My ears have not yet drunk a hundred words
Of that tongue's utterance, yet I know the sound:
Art thou not Romeo and a Montague?
ROMEO
Neither, fair saint, if either thee dislike.
JULIET
How camest thou hither, tell me, and wherefore?
The orchard walls are high and hard to climb,
And the place death, considering who thou art,
If any of my kinsmen find thee here.
ROMEO
With love's light wings did I o'er-perch these walls;
For stony limits cannot hold love out,
And what love can do that dares love attempt;
Therefore thy kinsmen are no let to me.
JULIET
If they do see thee, they will murder thee.
ROMEO
Alack, there lies more peril in thine eye
Than twenty of their swords: look thou but sweet,
And I am proof against their enmity.
JULIET
I would not for the world they saw thee here.
ROMEO
I have night's cloak to hide me from their sight;
And but thou love me, let them find me here:
My life were better ended by their hate,
Than death prorogued, wanting of thy love.
They stayed young forever !!!
2 p We,ll speak about comedies. «Comedy» had a very different meaning from modern comedy. One important theme of Shakspeare,s comedies is the never ending struggle between the forces of good and evil. Comedies treat everything lightly. Shakespeare,s main comedies are : «A Midsummer Night,s Dream», “Much Ado about
Nothing» , « All,s Well that Ends Well», «Twelfth Night», «Tre Merry Wives of Winsdor». Now the Shakespeare,s comedy plays continue to entertain audiences all over the world.
3 p We,ll speak about sonnets. Shakespeare,s sonnets are a series of 154 poems of 14 lines each. They deal with . the love of the poet for a man and a woman, with friendship and the intensity of feelings, motality and beauty.. Sonnets were the last of Shakespeare,s non dramatic works to be printed. The subject of his sonnets are usually referred to as «The Fair Youth», « The Rival Poet» and « The Dark Lady.»
12. We,ll listen to the sonnets 130.(Декламация сонета).
My mistress' eyes are nothing like the sun;
Coral is far more red than her lips' red;
If snow be white; why then her breasts are dun;
If hairs be wires, black wires grow on her head.
I have seen roses damasked, red and white,
But no such roses see I in her cheeks,
And in some perfumes is there more delight
Than in the breath that from my mistress reeks.
I love to hear her speak, yet well I know
That music hath a far more pleasing sound;
I grant I never saw a goddess go -
My mistress when she walks treads on the ground.
And yet, by heaven, I think my love as rare
As any she belied with false compare.
Глаза моей возлюбленной совсем не похожи на солнце;
Коралл гораздо краснее, чем красный цвет ее губ;
если снег - белый, то почему тогда ее груди бурого цвета;
5 p. «The Fair Youth» is the unnamed young man to whom sonnets 1-126 are addressed. The Dark Lady are sexual in its passion. (127 – 152). Like all Shakespeare,s works the sonnets have been reprinted in many editions. Now listen to sonnet 90.
Then hate me when thou wilt, if ever, now
Now while the world is bent my deeds to cross,
Join with the spite of Fortune, make me bow,
And do not drop in for an after-loss.
Ah do not, when my heart has scaped this sorrow,
Come in the rearward of a conquered woe;
Give not a windy night a rainy morrow,
To linger out a purposed overthrow.
If thou wilt leave me, do not leave me last,
When other petty griefs have done their spite,
But in the onset come; so shall I taste
At first the very worst of Fortune's might;
And other strains of woe, which now seem woe,
Compared with loss of thee, will not seem so.
сейчас, когда мир вознамерился быть во всем против меня;
в арьергарде побежденного горя;
6p. Shakespeare died on his birthday, april 23, 1616. He was interred in the Chancel
of the Holy Trinity Chirch 2 days after his death. The epitaph carved into the
stone slab is

Where do I begin to tell the story
Of how great a love can be
The sweet love story that is older than the sea
The simple truth about the love she brings to me
Where do I start
With her first hello
She gave new meaning to this empty world of mine
They'll never be another love another time
She came into my life and made the living fine
She fills my heart
She fills my heart with very special things
Angel songs and wild imaginings
She fill my soul with so much love
That any where I go I'm never lonely
With her around who could be lonely
I reach for her hand
She's always there
How long does it last
Can love be measured by the hours in a day
I have no answers now
But this much I can say
I know I'll need her until the stars all burn away
And she'll be there
How long does it last
Can love be measured by the hours in a day
I have no answers now
But this much I can say
I know I'll need her until the stars all burn away
And she'll be there
