«IN THE WORLD OF ENGLISH»

Ход урока.

Т: Today we are going to have an unusual lesson. It’ll be a lesson - competition.  Be very attentive and try to do everything correctly.

Three teams will take part in our game. You should choose the captain and give the name to your team. You may discuss in groups.

It’s time to introduce yourselves. Who is the captain of the 1st team? 
P1: I’m the captain of the team. The name of our team is _________(“Friends”).
-Who is the captain of the 2nd team? 
P2: I’m the captain of the team. The name of our team is __________(“Stars”).

-Who is the captain of the 3rd team? 

P3: I’m the captain of the team. The name of our team is __________(“Sun”).

II. Well, now we begin our competition. Ready, steady, go!!!

Contest 1. “Introduction”

Dear captains, introduce yourselves and the members of your teams should do the same. ( You can get 5 points for this task. Our judges will give you points according to your presentation) (Slide)

Contest 2. “Riddles” The next task for you is guessing riddles. If you Know the answer you should raise your hand and you can get  One point for the right answer. (Right/That is not right)

1. I have four legs, but I can’t walk (a chair).

2. I’m tall and green; I’m in the garden (a tree).

3. It does not have legs, but it goes (a clock).

4. It does not have legs, but it jumps (a ball).

5. It’s not a man, it’s not a woman, but it teaches us (a book).

6. It’s white and cold and sweet. All children like it (ice-cream).

7. This animal gives us milk and butter . (a cow).

8. Which fruit sounds like a colour? (an orange)

Contest 3. “Proverbs”

I  think you like proverbs and sayings. Now we will have possibility to check up your knowledge. You can get three points if you find the right equivalents

Actions speak louder than words. - He по словам судят, а по делам.

A friend in need is a friend indeed. - Друзья познаются в беде.

All’s well that ends well. - Все хорошо, что хорошо кончается.

Better late than never. - Лучше поздно, чем никогда.

Bad news travels fast. -  У беды длинные ноги.

Contest 4. “Pantomime”

T: Now it is time for our captains. I ask you to come to me and choose one of these cards. Your aim is  to explain as many of words as you can to your team. And your team must guess these words and name them. You explain one word by one. (you get one point for each word)

Contest 5 ”Lazy Sentences”
-Let us do the next task. Now we will give you some cards with 5 sentences. But be careful! The words in the cards are put into wrong positions. You are to correct the mistakes. Start doing the task. You have 1 minute. (3 points)

Contest 6. “Captains’ contest”.

 Dear captains, this contest is for you. Correct the mistakes. (5 points) If you are ready you should give your card

Contest 6 “Who is quicker?”

While the captains are doing their tasks we have time for fun.(one point)

The contest is “Who is quicker?” Your task is to guess the word quicker than others. Ready, steady, go!!!
1. The first day of the week…    Sunday

      3. You drink this when you are thirsty…       water

      5. A domestic animal…         dog

      6. You grow flowers in a…         garden

Contest 8 “Description of the picture”

The next task for you is to describe a picture. To get 3 points you should answer all questions correctly. (Slide)

-What is the name of the character?

-Is he/she young or old?

-What does he/she look like?

-What is he/she like?

-What is he/she doing?

It`s time for you to speak.

Contest 9. “Drawing” We need 2 pupils for the contest drawing/ You have to read the text and draw picture according to it. You can get 3 points+1 for neatness (slide)

Text 1.

     There is a big house in the middle of the picture. The house is yellow with a red roof. There are two windows in the house and one door. To the left of the house there is a green tree. To the right of the house there are two flowers. One flower is red, the second flower is blue. Under the tree there is a black dog. In the tree there is a fat grey cat.

Contest 9. «Words»While they are drawing you can get some more points for  words on certain theme/ You should name the words one team after the other and if your team is the last who names the word you get the point.
