Review   “Barefoot in the park”      

         “Barefoot in the park” is a romantic comedy that is set in London in the 19th century about a young couple – Corie and Paul Bratter. They are just-married and immediately they come across with numerous problems of family life which, fortunately, vanish soon with a help of close people.

Corie rents an apartment for125§ that is not big and good enough but they both should live there. Corie likes it and thinks that time will pass and it will look better. On the contrary, Paul doesn’t like the flat: there is no furniture, a hole in the ceiling, and spoiled heating. During the first night a strange man comes into the flat with his own key. It is Mr. Velasco – divorced for 4 times and lives on the attic the way to which went through their flat. Mr. Velasco invites Corie to dinner on Tuesday. On Tuesday, Corie, Paul and her mother ate, drank, dance, and sang all together at Mr. Velasco’s. In the night Corie decides to divorce because she and Paul have nothing in common. The next day, Paul catches a cold, makes his packing and leaves. Corie goes looking for him and finds him drunk and barefoot in the park. She leads him home and on the roof they confess that they love each other.

“Barefoot in the park” covers many of the problems modern people face in society today e.g. loneliness, faithlessness, distrust, true love, interference of parents in life of young couples. This is all done in a realistic way with which most of us can identify. Renee Zellweger is brilliant in her role, and convincing in the emotions she portrays throughout.

If you like to see a stupid humorous comedy and are fond of happy endings, then you should definitely see this film.
