Before we start, tell me please, what do you associate with a word «magic»?

All of you know the books and the films about Harry Potter and other heroes of this saga written by English writer J.K. Rowling.

Today we’re going to speak about the heroes from “Harry Potter”.  We will describe your favourite heroes; try to guess these heroes by means of description. We hope you’ll enjoy this action.

As we’ve already said the author of the saga about Harry Potter is J.K.Rowling. Do you know something from your life and her creative work?

Pupil: Joanne Rowling (pen-name J. K. Rowling) is a famous British novelist. Her fantasy books about Harry Potter brought her world recognition and popularity. They became the best-selling books in the history of literature. These books have become the basis for a series of films, which were also highly successful. The writer was born on July 31st, 1965, in Yate, which is north-east of Bristol.  In Scotland she received a grant to finish the novel about «Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone». It wasn’t easy to sell it at first. Finally the book was bought by «Bloomsbury» publishing office. The book soon received a number of awards. The sequel of Joanne’s story was released next year. The writer quickly achieved world recognition and became an international literary sensation. All in all, she wrote seven books about Harry Potter.

Her parents are dentists and know nothing about magic; but they are proud of  their daughter who is one of the most brilliant students at Hogwarts School.

He is a boy who comes from an old family of wizards and that makes him feel very proud of himself. He wants to come first everywhere and despises those who are not like him and who have different views.

Draco  Malfoy

She is the youngest child in her family of wizards. She has got six brothers but no sisters. She was involved in mysterious adventures together with her family and friends, one of whom is Harry Potter.

Ginny  Weasley

He is a young boy. His hair is black. His eyes are green. He has got a strange scar on his forehead. Being an orphan he lived in his aunt’s house and had never guessed that he came from a wizard’s family until he received a letter informing that he was accepted to Hogwarts School.

Harry  Potter

He is a lean red-haired boy who comes from a large wizard’s family. He used to magic in his everyday life but he is not very good at studying it.

Ron  Weasley  

• This man teaches students at Hogwarts school to make different magic mixtures. He is a good specialist but he looks evil and the students are afraid of him.

Severus  Snape

• She is a teacher at Hogwarts school. She teaches her students to turn things and creatures into something quite different. She is very strict, but the students like her very much.

Minerva McGonagall
