Stop climate change Faced with the choice of deadly, dirty, dangerous energy like coal, oil and nuclear power, or safe, clean and renewable power, what would you decide? Renewable energe , smartly used, can and will meet our demands. No oil spills, no climate change, no radiation danger, no nuclear waste – simply energy we can trust. We can achieve a world with 100% renewable energy. Will you make thet choice ?
Solar photovoltaic power is a very well-known renewable energy source - yet not widepsread enough. In countries like Kenya that receive a high amount of sunlight year-round, it is a very accessible source of energy. On this photo, Barack Obama's grandmother, Mama Sara Obama , poses with solar installation trainees in her village in Kenya. Greenpeace and Solar Gen offered to install solar panels on her roof and brought her power.
Protecting forests We campaign for forest protection because, without healthy, thriving forests, planet Earth cannot sustain life. As much as eighty per cent of the world's forests have been degraded or destroyed. Greenpeace is campaigning for zero deforestation by 2020 to protect what is left of these extraordinary ecosystems.
Defending our Oceans We need to defend them now more than ever, because the oceans need all the resilience they can muster in the face of climate change and the potentially disasterous impacts this is already beginning to produce in the marine world. The Greenpeace Defending our Oceans campaign sets out to protect and preserve our oceans now and for the future .
Eliminate toxic chemicals The production, trade, use, and release of many synthetic chemicals is now widely recognised as a global threat to human health and the environment. Yet, the world's chemical industries continue to produce and release thousands of chemical compounds every year, in most cases with none or very little testing and understanding of their impacts on people and the environment.
Agriculture campaign Greenpeace is campaigning for agriculture that is good for the planet and people. Healthy food grown with the environment — not against it. Farming that helps cope with climate change. Get involved.
End the nuclear age Greenpeace has always fought - and will continue to fight - vigorously against nuclear power because it is an unacceptable risk to the environment and to humanity. The only solution is to halt the expansion of all nuclear power, and for the shutdown of existing plants.
Greenpeace and You The people who make up Greenpeace are a diverse and committed bunch. Our volunteers, activists and staff span the globe, cover the age spectrum, and defy simple categorisation . What they all have in common is the one big aim: a green and peaceful future for all.
