PAST CONTINUOUS

ПРОШЕДШЕЕ ПРОДОЛЖЕННОЕ ВРЕМЯ

Употребляется для:

1. Действия, которое произошло в точно указанное время в прошлом. При этом не уточняется, когда действие началось и закончилось. Например: I was watching football at 8 pm yesterday.
2. Двух и более действий, которые происходили одновременно: Natalie was watching TV, while her sister was reading a book.
3. Если одно действие прерывается другим: We were doing our homework, when the lights went out.
4. Описания фона, пейзажа: The sun was shining, light wind was blowing and birds were singing that Summer morning.
