Adjectives describe nouns. They have the same form in both the singular and the plural. They can be factual or opinion. They normally go before nouns. They also go alone (without nouns) after the linking verbs.
Some linking verbs: appear be become feel get seem smell look sound stay taste
Adjective Formation
Many common adjectives do not have particular endings: e.g. pretty, sad, calm, deep, big, little, Most adjectives are formed from nouns and verbs by adding: - able e.g. comfortable - ent e.g. dependent - al e.g. accidental - ful e.g. careful - ant e.g. reluctant - ian e.g. Italian - ar e.g. popular - ible e.g. horrible - ary e.g. imaginary - ic e.g. historic - ate e.g. passionate - ical e.g. historical

Order of Adjectives

Opinion adjectives go before fact adjectives. When there are two or more adjectives of the same category, the more general adjective goes before the more specific one. When there are two or more fact adjectives , they normally go in the following order:
Degrees of Comparison

Certain adjectives form their comparative and superlative in both ways, either by adding - er /- est to the positive form or by taking more/most . Some of these are: clever simple common stupid cruel quiet friendly shallow gentle polite narrow pleasant

Types of Comparison
as (positive degree) as e.g. as cold as ice not so/as (positive degree) as e.g. not so/as cold as it was yesterday such a(n) so … as e.g. not such an interesting book as his last one twice/three times/half as (positive degree) as e.g. twice as big as half as much as the same as e.g. the jacket is the same as …

Compare the following jobs using the adjectives: exciting, imaginative, rewarding, tiring, stressful e.g. Being a taxi driver is not as/so exciting as being a teacher. Being a teacher is twice as exciting as being a taxi driver. Being a doctor is the most exciting job of all.
