КВН по теме «Do You know America?»

• Контроль знаний по теме « America »
• Развитие грамматических навыков
• Совершенствование навыков монологической речи

Развивающие:

• Расширение кругозора учащихся
• Развитие лингвистической догадки

Воспитательные

• Приобщение учащихся к культуре и традициям англо-говорящих стран
• Воспитание умения работать в команде

Данное мероприятие рассчитано на учащихся 10 классов. Класс можно украсить флагами англо-говорящих стран или картой с выделенными англо-говорящими странами. В качестве жюри можно пригласить учителей английского языка или старшеклассников.

Ход КВНа

T: Good afternoon, dear girls, boys and guests of our party. Today we shall have a competition! For this competition you should divide into two teams. Let’s do it. I have cards of two colours. Please, close your eyes and choose any card. The pupils with red cards will play in the first team. The pupils with green cards will play in the second team.

Учитель приготовил карточки красного и зеленого цвета. Команды формируются в соответствии с выбранными цветами. Количество человек в командах – от 4 до 6.

T: Please, give the names to your teams and choose the captains. Well, now your teams have names and we can start.

1.THE ABC GAME

 T: Now you will get some letters .You must put these letters in the right order, so as to get the name of the country. The winner will be the team that finishes the work earlier. ( The United States of America)

T: You have to make other words from the letters it contains. The letters can be used in any order. The winner is the team that finds the largest number of words.

E.g: taste, nut, am,arm,then,set,rice,tin,net,nice,hen,run,test,aim,thus,rat,man,dentist, tent,mat)

2. BRITISH / AMERICAN ENGLISH

Give American variant of the  British English:

1. Cinema – movies
2. Lift   - elevator
3. Autumn – fall
4. Flat – apartment
5. Sweet –candy
6. Post –mail
7. Tin – can
8. Form –grade
9. Tube – subway

3. The third competition “Quiz”

T: Well, the rules of the quiz are the following. Each team should choose a sector from the first part and a sector from the second part. For each right answer you’ll get three points. If your answer is wrong the other team may answer the same question. Take turns in choosing the sectors. Are the rules clear?

5.Captains’ competition.

T: The next task is for the captains. Imagine that you are from another country and you speak another language. Close your eyes and come to me. Choose any country you like. So, you should tell us about your country. What country are you from? What is your country famous for? What is your official language? What kind of people are there in your country? Think it over! I’ll give you 5 minutes and then you’ll present your story.
