                                              1. Организационный момент.

– About rules of behavior at home and if you are a guest.

– Well-done. Look at the photos and name the holidays.

Right you are! Of course traditions of every country are connected with holidays.
Lots of people all over the world look forward to a number of holidays each year.
While having holidays we enjoy various things: singing, dancing, eating, visiting friends and relatives, playing, walking.

We are going to speak about holidays.

On the blackboard you can see pictures of some holidays. Match holidays and traditions which are connected with them.


Now we have a list of the traditional holidays. This list of holidays is too big for one lesson. Let's choose the top one or two.

Our lesson is connected with the most popular holidays in Great Britain, in Russia and in Kalmykia. This holiday is the favorite holiday of all children and grown-ups. I hope you’ll enjoy our lesson and be friendly to each other. I wish you good luck! Let’s start! I'll divide you into two teams: the first-British people, the second-

Now we will check your          home task. What was your home task for today?

-Your task is to listen attentively and to answer the questions

     Are Russian, British and Kalmyk traditions different?

     What is different and what is similar?

-Thank you very much. Let’s answer the questions and discuss the project.

–Our home task for today was to make a project about our customs and traditions.
 

-The Kalmyk have many customs and traditions which were introduced in the ancient times of their Mongol history. The Kalmyk were nomadic people, known as the Oyrat or Western Mongol, who used to live in Central Asia, which they left for the Caspian lowlands, steppes at the beginning of the 17-th century.

- Most of these customs and traditions are still alive today. There are no unwelcome guests for the Kalmyk. They are always glad to meet a stranger offering him a drink and food without asking any questions. One of the most popular sayings of the Kalmyk is: “First offer the drink, then ask him to  tell about business.”                                ---_Another saying is:” The best food for your guests, the best dress for yourself.”   -These sayings describe Kalmyk hospitality in the best way.  A guest never left without a present. A dress or a piece of fabric is put on the guest’s right shoulder with a wish oh happiness to him and his family.                                          –Of course nowadays it is not always possible to follow  all these manners of the past.

During the holidays Kalmyk people follow national traditions and customs. One of them is a game “Altchiki”.

Each team has different texts. The first is about  holiday celebrations in Britain. The second is about holiday celebration in Russia.
Ask and answer the questions .

Santa Claus uses reindeer to pull his sleigh.
Father Frost uses three horses (a troika).
Santa Claus puts presents in children's stockings.
Father Frost wears traditional Russian felt boots. Father Frost wears very special mittens.
Father Frost puts presents under the fir tree.
Father Frost has a magic stick in his hands.

 Santa Claus wears glasses and gloves.

Let’s speak about holiday celebrations in Kalmykia. 

Zul is  celebrated in a family circle as the main ritual - life extension. On the eve of a holiday people bake bortsoks, they are made of flour. Two oblong icon lamps in the form of boats are made of  dough, in which prepared matches are put  according  to a number of years of each member of the family. Then it is covered with  butter. When the first stars are lit in the sky, matches set fire. Then the whole family takes seats and has  supper.

7. Развитие навыков письма.

 Write letters to Santa Claus and to Father Frost has been a Christmas tradition for children for many years and in many countries.

When people celebrate holidays they are

fond of singing songs. Please listen to the song «We wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year» and sing.

8. Конец урока. Домашнее задание.

Our lesson is going to the end. You’ve worked hard and learnt a lot of useful things. At home write about your family  favorite holiday. Everybody deserves excellent marks. Traditionally on holidays people address each other with iorals(good wishes). I also want to finish our lesson with ioral.
