Variant 1

Rewrite the sentences into the reported speech.

Example. «Don’t run in the corridor», the teacher said to the students.

The teacher told the students not to run in the corridor.

3. «Be calm and quiet in class», said our teacher to us.

Translate into Russian.

The Russian athlete became the victim of some unfair judges who gave him unreasonably low marks of his performance at the horizontal bar. The public in the Olympic stadium became indignant with the judges` decision. For fifteen minutes, spectators expressed their protest by shouting and whistling. It was not only Russians but also the sports fans of other nationalities, who participated in this protest.

My granny asked me not to make such terrible noise.

The Russian delegation submitted a note of protest to the International Olympic Committee, but to no avail. However, we will always remember Alexey Nemov as a great gymnast as well as a great man who finished his athletic career with much dignity. Being of such sound character, Alexey Nemov is sure to gain much success in his life beyond his athletic career.
