- Активировать ранее изученные лексические единицы по теме «Holidays», развивать умение применять материал в практических ситуациях;

- развивать умение запросить информацию, способность к догадке, воображению, память; расширять кругозор учащихся;

- развивать мотивацию к дальнейшему овладению английским языком; обеспечить в ходе урока изучение таких вопросов, как дружба, любовь и т.д.

Teacher: Dear friends! You are welcome to our party dedicated to St. Valentine’s Day, which is held on February 14th.

Pupil: This is a very popular holiday in Europe and America. It’s a day of love and friendship. We send greetings cards to our sweethearts and friends and ask them “be my Valentine”. It means “be my beloved”, or “be my friend”. We also decorate our classrooms with big red hears and give red roses and chocolates to our sweethearts, friends and family.

Этот праздник очень популярен в Европе и Америке. Этот день любви и дружбы, но не только возлюбленных, но и членов семьи, друзей, родственников. Мы посылаем в этот день открытки возлюбленным и друзьям и призываем их «будь моим Валентином». Это означает «будь моим (моей) возлюбленной или другом(подругой)». Мы украшаем помещения, где проходят праздники, красными сердцами, и дарим розы как символ любви и счастья.

Pupil: The method of choosing sweethearts on St. Valentine’s Day varied in different times and places. It could be a serious matter, leading to marriage or it could be a kind of a game. Today we have an interesting competition and a good holiday for all of us. So we wish you a Happy Valentine’s Day.

Как выбрать подругу/друга в день Святого Валентина? Это происходило по - разному в разные времена и в разных местах. Это могло быть и серьезным намерением, а могло быть всего лишь игрой. Teacher: Contest No 2. Do you know any legends of how St. Valentine’s Day began?

Pupil: Давным-давно в Древнем Риме существовал обычай чествовать в середине февраля бога Луперкуса. Молодые барышни и молодые люди разыгрывали мистерии, во время которых складывали в специальные ящички записки. На каждой из них было записано всего два слова: имя человека, которому послание  адресовано и имя отправителя. Затем по очереди вытаскивали записки  и образованные пары продолжали праздник. Прошло несколько сотен лет. В конце 3 века нашей эры император Римской империи Клавдий издал указ, который запрещал молодым людям жениться. Клавдий вел постоянные войны и поэтому нуждался в боеспособной армии, а женатые солдаты, по его мнению, были плохими воинами. Древнеримским воинам закон не позволял вступать в брак, пока они находились на службе, и тем более освящать его в церкви. Один из христианских епископов, Валентин, пастырь и духовник воинов тайком благословлял пары и, несмотря на запрет, освящал отношения церковным обрядом. Непокорного священника казнили 14 февраля 270 года. С тех пор этот день празднуется как праздник всех влюбленных.А спустя 200 лет Валентин был причислен к лику святых и назначен покровителем нового праздника.

Pupil: А вот и другая история.

В старинные времена жил в солнечном Провансе славный рыцарь Джауфре Рюдель. Был он поэтом, который сложил много песен о любви. В тех песнях он провозглашал любовь к своей прекрасной даме, которую никогда не видел – Триполитанской принцессе. Пилигримы вещали, что прекрасней сей дамы нет на свете. Когда же принцессе поведали, что о ней сложены столь восхитительные песни, то она пожелала

увидеть искусного поэта своими глазами. Джауфре немедленно отправился в Левант, но по пути его разбил тяжелый недуг, силы его оставили, слуги разбежались, имущество его расхитили. Когда же наконец корабль прибыл в Триполитанскую гавань, Джауре умер. Это было 14 февраля 1148 года, т.е. день Св. Валентина. В старинных хрониках указано, что все трубадуры христианского мира взяли себе  за обычай ежегодно в День св. Валентина сходиться в замках и на площадях, дабы своим песенным искусством прославлять историю любви.
