Урок “Merry Christmas”

Тема:        контроль речевых умений и навыков по  теме “Праздники”;

Цель:        систематизировать и обобщить знания учащихся по теме “Праздники”;

Задачи:  

     учебные:

              а: совершенствование навыков употребления лексических единиц по теме;

             б: развитие навыков аудирования, чтения, говорения по теме;

    развивающие:

             а: развитие умения и готовности взаимодействовать с учителем и друг с другом;

            б:  демонстрация значения английского языка в диалоге культур;

воспитательные: создание атмосферы творческого взаимодействия между     учащимися;

оснащение урока: компьютер, экран, презентация учителя, диски с музыкальным оформлением.

Ход урока:

  1. Организационный момент.

T:   Hello, boys and girls!

      I’m very glad to see you now!

Ps: Hello, glad to see you too.

T:   Today we are having lots of guests. They are teachers of our school.

      Greet them, please.

Ps: Good morning, dear teachers.

T:   Thank you. Sit down, please. You are all very polite.

  1. Основная часть.

T: Today we are going to greet winter and speak about a wonderful holiday – Christmas (on the screen: “Christmas – is a Wonderful Holliday”, a Christmas tree, decorated with different toys and coloured lights.)

There is a date on the blackboard.

-Tuesday, December 25th-

 T:  Look at the blackboard, please and answer my questions.

T:1.– What day of the week is it today?

   P: - It is Tuesday.

   T: - Is it true?

P: - No, it isn’t Tuesday today. It is Friday.

T: - Well, let’s go on.

       What month is it now?

P: - It is December now.

T: - Is it right?

P: - No, it isn’t December now.

       It is November.

T: - What date is it today?

P: - It is the 25th of December

T: - Is it correct?

P: - No, it isn’t. It is the 28th of November.

T: OK.  Thank you. Let me think a bit. But on the blackboard you can see the 25th of December (pronounce together) Oh, my God! It’s clear for me. Now we are in our Magic Time Car.

(There is a fantastic Magic Time Car on the screen)

T:   Are you good drivers?

Ps: Yes, we are good drivers (all together)

T:   Certainly you are. Then let’s make a nice winter tour to America, Italy and Great Britain Let’s go!

T: Is it Christmas on the 25th of December in Britain?

P: Yes, It is.

T: Is it Christmas on the 25th of December in Italy?

P: Yes it is.

T: Is it Christmas on the 25th of December in America.

P: Yes it is.

T: OK, Let’s celebrate this great holiday with the English, the Americans and the Italians.

T: By the way all European people like to sing songs, and you? Do you like to sing songs?

P: Yes, we do. We like to sing songs.

(On the screen: The name of the song “We wish you a Merry Christmas”

Pupils sing the song together with the teachers. While they are singing there is another picture on the screen: a greeting card “A Merry Christmas”)

 T: Thank you. You are all nice singers. Don’t forget that it is the 25th of December now. It is Christmas and we are in London.

  1. Look at the screen, read the questions and answer them.

 What place do you usually go on Christmas evening in London?

  1. London ZOO
  2. The Park
  3. Trafalgar square
  4. Big Ben
  1. Why do you go to Trafalgar square?
  1. To play snow balls
  2. To skate
  3. To look at a very big Christmas Tree
  4. To make a snowman.

  2. …from Italy
  3. …from Norway
  4. …from Africa

T: You are very clever. Here are the words. Read and translate them.

T: Let’s describe English Christmas tree. (a pupil is describing the tree using the previous sentences)

T: Thank you for your little story. Let’s go shopping like the English do on the Eve of          Christmas.

T: - Do the English buy presents on Christmas Eve?

Ps: Yes, they do. They buy presents on Christmas Eve.

T: - Where do they go to buy presents?

P: - They go to buy presents in the shops.

    (on the screen) the nearest and dearest.

(Children are reading the word-combination and translate it.)

T: - Whom do they buy presents for?

P: - They buy presents for their nearest and dearest.

T: - Who gives presents for English children?

P: - Father Christmas gives presents for English children.

(Children are speaking about Christmas presents.)

T: - Well, you know a lot. But I’m hungry a bit and you? Let’s have Christmas dinner. What is it, I wonder?

P: - For Christmas dinner the English eat turkey, potatoes and green vegetables.

Then they have a Christmas pudding. At five in the evening it’s time for tea and Christmas cake.

T: Certainly. The dinner is tasty.

(Children are retelling the whole text.)

  1. Reading.

T: An American boy, called Nick prepared for you some more information about Christmas (texts for pupils).

T: Here are some words. Repeat the words after me.

a story – рассказ

a dream – сон

to come true – осуществляться

Santa = Santa Claus = Father Christmas

T: Let’s read the text in roles.

    Santa is …

    Nick is …

    The narrator is …

T: I think it’s better to take a real Santa (the teacher gives the Santa’s costume to the pupil)

(Pupils are reading the text in roles)

T: There are some drills on the screen.

1). Read and say: it is true OR it is false.

  1. It is a New Year morning;
  2. Nick wishes Santa a New Year;
  3. Nick would like to have a lot of Christmas presents;
  4. Nick does his homework every day.

2). Complete the sentences:

       Nick goes to … a) his school.

                                    b) his bed.

                                    c) his friend.

3). Nick sees:           a) a magic park

                                    b) a magic book

                                    c) a magic dream

4). Nick would like to be …

  1. Strong
  2. Healthy
  3. Brave

       5). Nick can …

                  c) write, read, count

What does Santa give Nick?

Ps: Santa gives Nick a lot of Sweets, a new red bike and a new computer game

      IV. By the way Italian Father Christmas (his name is Babo Natale (on the screen) invites you to listen to Italian Christmas carols, called Natalitsy. (on the screen)

(Italian carols sound. Children are listening to “Jingle Bells” in Italian.)

V.T: Children, you know many poems about Christmas. You are welcome.

Pupils are reciting their poems. Teacher thanks pupils and gives them presents.

      VI.T: Thank you, Children. You have got only excellent marks. Please, listen to Christmas carols. It will be your homework.

     VII. The bell has gone Stand up! Good buy. See you soon.
