Woman (Mother): Spring is dancing through the wood

In a lovely dress and hood.

Flowers bloom beneath her feet,

Wabling birds her coming greet.

Woman (Mother): But I'm not happy. I have no children.

Fairy: Knock, knock, trick or treat

Who are you?

I'm a fairy, I'm a little fairy!

ONE, TWO, THREЕ Look at me!

Woman (Mother): Oh! Thank you, thank you very much.

Scene 2

Thumbelina: Hello! Are you my mummy?

Mother: Yes, yes, I’m your mummy and I’m very happy.

What is your name?

Now, tell me, please,

What is your name?

My name is Thumbelina,

That’s my name.

Thumbelina: Oh, I’m very tired. I want to sleep.

Mother: Good night, my dear!

Frog: You are in the middle of my pond. My Son wants to marry you!

Thumbelina: Who is your son?

Frog: He is a huge green frog, he is like his Mother!

Frog: Don’t cry! Don’t worry! We’ll come back soon. See you, my dear!

Thumbelina: Butterfly, butterfly,

Where can you fly?

Butterfly: I can fly very high

Beetle: Good morning, Good morning

Good morning to you.

I’m glad to see you.

Thumbelina: Good morning! My name is Thumbelina. And who are you?

Beetle: I’m Mr Beetle. Roses are red

Violets are blue

Sugar is sweet

And I love you.

Lady-birds: She is so ugly! She has only two legs! She has no feelers! She can’t fly and hop!

Beetle: Yes, you are very ugly! Go away!

Scene 5

Thumbelina: Yellow, red, and green, and brown,

See the little leaves come down.

Dancing, dancing in the freeze

Falling, falling from the trees.

Mouse: Why do you cry Thumbelina?

Why do you cry?

Why Thumbelina? Why Thumbelina?

Why Thumbelina? Why?

Thumbelina: I’m a poor little girl. I have no house.

Mouse: I live in the nice warm house. Let’s live together.

Mouse: Mr. Mole is my neighbour.

Thumbelina: Good morning, Mr. Mole, nice to meet you!

Mole: I’m blind, but I can hear well. You are a nice girl with a lovely voice.

Mouse: She will be a wonderful wife for you.

Thumbelina: Please Let me go and say goodbye to the sun I shall never see it again.

Scene 6

Thumbelina: I’m very unhappy. Mr. Mole wants to be my husband. I don’t like him. He’s old. He’s blind. Poor me!

Swallow: Help me! Help me, dear girl! I hurt my wing. I’m cold. I’m hungry. I’m thirsty.

Swallow: Thank you, dear girl. And what is your name?

Thumbelina: My name is Thumbelina.

Swallow: I can help you! I’m going to fly to the South. Come with me!

Thumbelina: Thank you, dear Swallow. Bye, Mrs Mouse! Bye, Mr Mole!

Scene 7

Swallow: Here we are, dear Thumbelina. We live on this beautiful palace, look!

Flower spirits: Hello! Hello! Nice to meet you!

Thumbelina: Hello! My name is Thumbelina.

Prince: Nice to meet you, Thumbelina. I’m the Prince of the Flower spirits. I loved you from the first sight! Will you marry me and be the Princess of the Flower Spirits? If you say No I shall die.

Thumbelina: I’ll marry you, dear Prince.

Prince: And here is my present – your wings!

Thumbelina: Oh, Thank you! I’m the happiest girl in the world!

Frogs Be happy!

Beetle Be happy!

Lady-birds Be happy!

Mole Be happy!

All Be Happy!
