PARTS OF SPEECH

A Noun is a name of anything, as School, Garden or

                                                          King.

Adjectives tell the kind of Noun, as great, pretty, white or 

                                                         brown.

Instead of Noun the Pronoun is, as mine, yours, our and

                                                          his.

Verbs tell of something being done – to read, count,

                                                     laugh, carry or run.

How things are done the Adverbs tell, as slowly, quickly,

                                                                  ill or well.

Conjunctions join the words together, as men and

                                       women, wind and weather.

The Preposition stands before a Noun in or

                                                             through a door.

The Interjection shows surprise, as – Oh, How pretty!

                                                             Ah, How wise!

The little words you often see are Articles: a, an, and the.

The whole are called the Parts of Speech which reading,

                                                   writing, speaking teach

Песня  была написана Вуди Гатри в 1940 году, впервые записана в апреле 1944 года, но стала особенно широко известна после записи в январе 1952 года для фирмы Decca.

Гатри был уже тяжело болен - в сентябре ему поставили диагноз болезни Хаттингтона.

Через несколько лет он умер.

      Он оставил несколько сотен песен, которые поют и некоторые известные исполнители, и тысячи (а может быть и миллионы) простых американцев, не задумываясь часто, кто эти песни написал, которые стали народными.

By the fountain’s brink

What is red? – A poppy is red

In its barley bed.

What is blue? – The sky is blue

Where the clouds float thro

What is white? – A snow is white

Sailing in the light.

What is yellow? – A pear is yellow.

Rich and ripe and mellow.

What is green? – The grass is green.

With small flowers between.

What is violet? – Clouds are violet.

In the summer twin light.

What is orange? -  Why, an orange.

Just an orange.
