Christmas

As a small child I loved almost everything about Christmas. The excitement of Christmas Eve was almost unbearable. We would go from house to house singing Christmas carols and be given hot mince pies(сладкие пироги) and other A22 ………… . Before bed our parents would read us stories and eventually put us to bed with warnings that Santa Claus would not come if we stayed awake. I loved, as I mentioned before, "almost everything". Immediately after Christmas I was told by my parents that I had to write "thank you letters". As a six-year-old, writing A25 ………. one letter was a task, but several made a mountain - pressing down on my small world. “Why” I argued with my Mum “should I write to grandparents, aunts and uncles? Santa brought me all my presents.” And my mother would lie to her son.

Порядок подсчета слов в заданиях раздела «Письмо»

При определении соответствия объема представленной работы вышеуказанным требованиям считаются все слова, начиная с первого слова по последнее, включая вспомогательные глаголы, предлоги, артикли, частицы. В личном письме адрес, дата, подпись также подлежат подсчету. При этом:

• стяженные (краткие) формы can't, didn't, isn't, I'm, let’s и т. п. считаются как одно слово;
• числительные, выраженные цифрами, например 1; 25; 2009; 126204; 25.03.10; 879 и т. п. считаются  

   как одно слово;

• числительные, выраженные словами, считаются как слова;
• числительные, выраженные цифрами, вместе с условным обозначением процентов, т.е. 25%, 100% и  

    т.п. считаются как одно слово;

• сложные слова, такие как good-looking, well-bred, English-speaking, twenty-five, считаются как одно

  слово;

• сокращения, например USA, e-mail, TV, CD-rom, считаются как одно слово.

Задание для учащегося

40.   You have 60 minutes to do this task.  Comment on the following statement.

               Exams are a fair way of testing students.

                  What is your opinion? Do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Every year thousands of students take exams which can decide their future. Some teenagers pass them successfully and are satisfied with their results, whereas others fail and therefore consider exams to be unjust.

As far as I am concerned, exams seem fair because examination questions are the same for all students. Besides, exam papers are marked according to a strict scheme and usually by more than one expert. Furthermore, students do exams at the same time and under the same conditions. If the examination procedure is strict, students have no opportunity to cheat, that is why the results of exams are quite objective.

Nevertheless, there is an opinion that exams do not reflect the real knowledge of students because they might be so nervous on the big day that they make a mess of the exam. In addition, some students think that tests do not truly judge their intelligence. What is really evaluated is their short-term memory.

Actually, I cannot agree with these opinions because those students who prepare properly for their exams feel calm and confident and do not make mistakes. Moreover, modern exams include not only tests but also writing essays where students can show their real knowledge and individual abilities.

     To sum up, although exams are not an ideal way of testing students, I believe they assess our knowledge in a fair way. However, the best system would be a mixture of exams and course work, in which students will be able to show their creative abilities.

Письменное высказывание с элементами рассуждения; общие стратегии:

• строить высказывание в соответствии с предложенным планом;

• начинать введение следует с общего представления темы и предложения, отображающего ее проблемный характер;
• во введении перефразировать тему/проблему, данную в задании, не повторяя ее дословно;
• при планировании письменного высказывания сначала продумать ключевые фразы каждого абзаца;
• в основной части сначала высказать свое мнение и аргументировать его, затем представить другую точку зрения и дать аргументацию, почему вы с ней не согласны;
• приводя контраргументы, отстаивая свою точку зрения, желательно выражать свое мнение не теми же словами, что раньше, а использовать перифраз, синонимию;
• в заключительном абзаце (заключении) еще раз указать на проблемный характер темы; показать, что, хотя у вас есть свое мнение, вы способны видеть и другие точки зрения; тем не менее, своя кажется вам более убедительной.
• делить текст на абзацы, которые отражают логическую и содержательную структуру текста;
• каждый абзац должен быть написан соответствующим образом (рекомендуется в первом предложении абзаца выразить его основную мысль и далее ее развивать, подкреплять примерами и аргументами и т. д.);

• введение и заключение должны быть приблизительно одинаковы по объему;

• в основной части должно быть три абзаца, приблизительно одинаковых по размеру;
• общий объем основной части не должен быть меньше общего объема введения и заключения;
• особое внимание уделять средствам логической связи текста, как внутри предложений, так и между предложениями.

Порядок определения процента текстуальных совпадений в задании С2

При оценивании задания С2 особое внимание уделяется способности экзаменуемого продуцировать развёрнутое письменное высказывание. Если более 30% ответа имеет непродуктивный характер (т.е. текстуально совпадает с опубликованным источником), то выставляется 0 баллов по критерию «Решение коммуникативной задачи», и, соответственно, всё задание оценивается в 0 баллов.

Текстуальным совпадением считается дословное совпадение отрезка письменной речи длиной 10 слов и более.

Выявленные текстуальные совпадения суммируются, и при превышении ими 30% от общего числа слов в ответе, работа оценивается в 0 баллов.
