Fast fashion and textile wasteСлайд 2
objective The objective of the project is to raise awareness about the environmental impact of fast fashion and the excessive textile waste generated by the fashion industry.
Слайд 3
goals 1. Educate the public about the environmental consequences of fast fashion, including water pollution, chemical use, greenhouse gas emissions and textile waste. 2. Raise awareness about the social and ethical issues related to fast fashion, such as poor working conditions and human rights violations in the garment industry. 3. Encourage consumers to make informed choices by promoting sustainable fashion practices, such as buying fewer clothes, choosing quality over quantity and supporting eco-friendly brands.

deScription The fashion industry's fast fashion model has led to a significant increase in textile waste and environmental degradation. The rapid production of cheap, disposable clothing has resulted in a culture of overconsumption and frequent disposal of garments, contributing to a massive amount of textile waste that ends up in landfills. This excessive waste not only depletes natural resources but also releases harmful chemicals and greenhouse gases into the environment during production and disposal.
Слайд 5
Statistics The average number of times a garment is worn before it ceases to be used has decreased by 36% compared to 15 years ago . The fashion industry is responsible for approximately one third of all microplastics found in the ocean. This fashion industry is the second highest user of water worldwide, producing 20% of total global water waste. Clothing production produces more emissions than international plane travel and shipping combined .

CAUSEs The rise of consumer culture and the desire for constantly changing fashion trends have fueled the demand for fast fashion. Consumers are encouraged to purchase cheap, trendy clothing that is quickly discarded, leading to a culture of overconsumption and excessive textile waste. Fast fashion brands prioritize speed and low-cost production to quickly produce new clothing collections. This model encourages the rapid turnover of garments, resulting in poor quality items that are quickly disposed of, contributing to the accumulation of textile waste.

CONSEQUENCES: Environmental Impact The use of synthetic materials, excessive water consumption, and chemical pollution during manufacturing processes further worsen the industry's environmental footprint, leading to habitat destruction, water contamination, and climate change.
Слайд 8
CONSEQUENCES: Resource Depletion The fast fashion industry's reliance on resources, such as water, fossil fuels, and natural fibers, depletes these resources at an unsustainable rate. This depletion has far-reaching consequences for ecosystems, biodiversity, and communities that rely on these resources for their livelihoods.
Слайд 9
CONSEQUENCES: Labor Exploitation The fast fashion business model contributes to exploitative labor practices in garment factories, where workers are often paid low wages, work in unsafe conditions, and face human rights violations. This exploitation affects communities, including women and children, who are vulnerable to labor abuses in the fashion supply chain.
Слайд 10
The use of toxic chemicals in textile production and the disposal of clothing waste can have negative health impacts on both workers in the fashion industry and communities living near manufacturing facilities or landfills. Exposure to these chemicals can lead to respiratory problems, skin conditions, and other health issues. CONSEQUENCES : Health Impacts

Solutions: what is done Consumer Education and Awareness Educating consumers about the environmental and social impacts of fast fashion can empower them to make informed purchasing decisions and support sustainable brands. Promoting conscious consumerism through campaigns, workshops, and educational materials can encourage individuals to prioritize quality over quantity and embrace a more sustainable approach to fashion.

Fashion brands can adopt sustainable and ethical practices throughout their supply chain, including using eco-friendly materials, reducing water and energy consumption, and implementing fair labor standards. Solutions: what is done shift to Sustainable Practices
Слайд 14
Supporting research and innovation in sustainable materials, manufacturing processes, and recycling technologies can drive the development of eco-friendly alternatives to conventional textiles and reduce the industry's reliance on resources. Solutions: what can be done Research and Innovation

conclusion In my opinion, the issue of fast fashion and textile waste is a big problem. Fast fashion means making clothes quickly and cheaply, which leads to a lot of waste. People buy lots of clothes that they don't need and throw them away quickly. This harms the environment and causes pollution. We need to change our habits and support companies that make clothes in a more sustainable way. By being more mindful of what we buy and supporting ethical fashion, we can help reduce the negative impact of fast fashion on the environment.
