I am up-to-date

Good afternoon everybody.

Let me introduce myself. My name is Elena Glazyrina and I’m a student of the 10th form of school 77.

I’m here to express my views on the problem of the meaning of being up to date.
I want to start by saying that nowadays each person has to be up to date in order not to lag behind the progress. The contemporary world is highly dynamic and fast-moving. And people can’t but incorporate the latest trends daily. No matter who you are, no matter what your job is, no matter how old you are it’s important to follow the latest tendencies.

As for me, I can say that I’m up to date. Firstly, I always try to use all the available sources of information to learn something new. In today’s world there are a lot of them, such as the Internet, television, magazines or newspapers, radio. Using these sources we can always see what is popular, relevant nowadays. What’s more, surfing the Net I can see what was cool in the past, what’s relevant at present, and what will be trendy in the future. There is too much advertisement which makes you know about all the advances and fresh ideas.

Actually, we can’t follow the latest valuable trends without using electronic devices. We, the current generation, are used to using them every waking moment. Everyone has accounts in different social networks. It means that we always keep in touch with people. Apart from communication, these gadgets make our life easier in the sphere of entertainment. There are thousands of apps that can be easily downloaded. Most of them are free of charge.  Besides, you can save time and do different activities at a time. A smartphone makes it possible to make purchases in shops and malls from all over the word. I can do it sitting comfortably in an armchair or even being on my way to school.

         What is more, I, being a student, am not tied to a concrete school in a concrete city or to a certain teacher. I am up-to date. I am a profound user of all the opportunities given on the World Wide Web. This means I can study anywhere by just using my electronic device and being enrolled to any course I like. What I need is just to pay some money using online wallet.  I can learn and practice any language I’m interested in or can develop my soft skills and plan my self-development. I can make friends and contribute to creating necessary future connections. Who knows what my professional future will look like? I have even started a business online. I sell my paintings and knitted toys.

Apart from this, new trends can be seen in ordinary schools. Our teachers are young, active and creative people, who are up to date. They know how to teach us better, how to do it more interesting, cool and not tedious. Lessons are not dull, but fascinating, arresting and amusing. As a result, students become up-to date as well.

In conclusion, I can say that I do think I’m up to date because I try to follow new trends in different spheres of my life, such as education, fashion, electronic devices, sport and healthy lifestyle. It’s important to follow them because our life in contemporary world is too fast moving. It means every day there may be new trends which can make our development better and help us in different spheres.
